The Sun in the tenth house brings excellent results. This is the very best place for the Sun. The Sun is our king. In the 10th house the Sun is at midday; it shines at full strength and is directly above our head. The 10th house is the house of work. At this moment people are born who will afterwards work at full strength — as the Sun shone at the moment of their birth. This is the most comfortable house for the Sun. In Sanskrit this is called dig bala. Dig is long, bala is strength. That is, the Sun here is very strong. These people are very brisk and can work without a break. The Sun gives these people all its natural qualities: respect, fame, victory, high posts, renown, comfort, rank, reputation. In the 10th house the Sun gives the person a chance to work, to earn, to become a leader and to obtain rank and fame.
The father, in his turn, thinks that an inheritance should be given to one for whom it will be useful. Therefore people who have the Sun in the 10th house have a greater chance of receiving an inheritance and material help from their father. Dessert is served where there is food.
Such people do not want to engage in ordinary work. They need to have special work. They want to do what others do not do. They seek new paths of which others have not dreamed, and go along those roads along which others have not gone. This is a good placement for scientific workers who need to invent new methods. They do not like to obey. If the mahadasha of the Sun begins at an active age, in that period he will have great growth. Comments:
When the sign of Cancer rises, the Sun, as the lord of the 2nd house, is exalted in the 10th house, a house of upachaya or profit. The strong dhana yoga arising in this case brings extraordinary wealth, prosperity and a high position in society. In the case of Scorpio rising, the Sun is in its own 10th house, in Leo, and forms a significant raja yoga, which speaks of the person’s special achievements. The 10th house is a house of upachaya. According to the rule of Vedic astrology, ruinous planets give good results when they are in these houses.
The 10th house is the house of honour, dignity and public activity. Therefore the owner of such a position
of the Sun will be a respected person, with a good reputation, an inclination towards humanitarian activity and excellent organisational qualities. Illuminating the 4th house from the 10th house, the Sun grants the owner of the horoscope a good education and happiness in the family (if there are no contradictions in the horoscope). Being in the house of professions, the Sun in the 10th house speaks of an inclination towards medicine, politics and state service. Bhrigu Muni emphasises that special fame and recognition will come to a person with the Sun in the 10th house in the case of an influence of three planets upon it. The horoscope of the great French physician and astrologer M. Nostradamus proves this.

“Brihat Jataka” — the owner of the horoscope will be a strong personality, capable of achieving much. Happiness awaits him.
“Phaladipika” — a person in whose horoscope the Sun occupies the 10th house will become wise, wealthy and powerful, will earn an excellent reputation, will live in comfort and have good children.
“Saravali” — the owner of the horoscope will be noble and wise. He will achieve successes in his profession, will attain wealth and happiness in children, and will reach a high position.
“Chamatkar Chintamani” — despite constant mental anxiety, the owner of the horoscope will achieve successes in his work. He will cause pain to his mother and will part with his relatives.
Note: The favourable characteristics of the placement of the Sun in the 10th house will manifest in full measure if there is no affliction of the Sun, which Bhrigu Muni describes in detail.

The results of the placement of the Sun in the 10th house
If Surya is placed in the 10th Bhava, then the person possesses correct intellect and wisdom, prospers with means of transport and wealth, obtains royal patronage, is happy thanks to his son, honours the sages and is endowed with precious stones and jewels.
Comments: Surya [the Sun] obtains Dig Bala [directional strength] when it is placed in the 10th Bhava [house]; and if there is no ruinous influence upon it, then the person obtains renown, various acquisitions and profit from the government. As a consequence of the placement of Surya in the 10th Bhava the person is inspired always to do good. The Sun in this house is benefic and favourable for the person’s father as well. A person with this placement of Surya in his birth chart celebrates festivities (weddings, holidays and the like) with great splendour and pomp.
The Sun in the tenth house
The 10th house is the house of activity, action and professional inclinations. Here the Sun manifests itself most strongly. The house of activity and the Sun are literally made for each other.
Confidence in one’s affairs, the quick attainment of status, magnificent personnel management, leadership — these are the most vivid manifestations of the Sun in the 10th house. If nothing hinders the Sun, then occupying the 10th house it fulfils all the person’s professional dreams.
Besides professional qualities, the Sun in the 10th house gives the person courage and responsibility for his deeds and promises. Such a combination looks excellent in a man’s life. For women such a strong and high-quality Sun is not very good, because it gives them unapproachability and independence. Women with such a combination had better spend more energy at work than at home.
In addition I will say that in the 10th house the Sun is hardest of all to damage by any factors. To weaken it here requires no little strength from other planets or life factors.

Health:
The 10th house in the human body is the knees.
A weak, damaged Sun in the 10th house causes autoimmune diseases of the knee joints (arthritis, rheumatoid disorders and so on). It may also give disproportions in the physiology of the knees or some structural displacements and damage to the knees. Weakness of the bones of the kneecap also often manifests.
Conclusion:
The Sun in the tenth house occupies a truly royal position. It is difficult to find a more advantageous and effective placement in the chart for the Sun. Of course the price for such a placement is arrogance and extreme self-confidence, but this may be forgiven if the person is a professional in his field.
The placement of the Sun in the 10th house in women may be considered separately. This is not an entirely fortunate placement. Although the woman obtains all the blessings of this placement, it does not fit ideally into the socially customary framework of a woman’s life and requires a careful choice of partner.
My personal observations of clients with such a placement show that they are more inclined than other people towards polygamy. As a rule people with such a Sun cannot be satisfied with one partner. This should be taken into account when choosing a partner in business and in the family.
