The Moon in the 9th house
The results given by the Moon in the ninth house of the horoscope
Chandra (the Moon) in the 9th house
The Moon in the 9th house. Intelligence, an inclination towards philosophy and religion, creative abilities, a talent in art, many trips, happiness in children, wealth. (Indubala)
The Moon in the ninth house: trips abroad, religiousness, mysticism, justice. (Shri Govind Swarup Agarwal)
The Moon in the 9th house: This house shows higher knowledge, luck, well-being, religion, the father, teachers, and abroad. If the Moon is undamaged here, the person will obtain favourable results in all these spheres. A good Moon gives longevity to the father. Such people do not want to commit sins. Their life passes smoothly to the end of life. They do not have to encounter troubles. They have a pure body and soul. Everyone respects them. He respects his parents and all adults. He loves his mother very much. He loves his father too, but with his mother he has a greater bond. The mother receives love, care and protection from such a son/daughter. They want to engage in charity. Heavy and bustling work does not suit them. The Moon is manasa, the 9th house is a temple. The union of manasa with a temple brings well-being of a spiritual character. When manasa is in a temple, it has no time for material goods. As I have written in detail above, from a favourable Moon one should expect more spiritual goods. When the dasha period begins, he may go abroad. If Taurus or Cancer is in the 9th house, the person will have a raja yoga which will bring him great fame. (Mahesh Dharmadasa)
“Bhrigu Sutra” 2.47-53
A person will be erudite, learned, generous and inclined towards charity if the Moon is in the 9th house of his horoscope. He will create ponds and reservoirs for the good of others and will build cowsheds. Prosperity awaits the children of the owner of the horoscope. A person born during a full Moon will be very fortunate, and his father will live a long life. With a conjunction of the Moon with a ruinous planet or in the case where the Moon is in the house of an unfavourable planet, an early loss of the parents and failures await the owner of the horoscope.
Comments:
The 9th house is the house of dharma and bhagya, of fortune and prosperity. With the exception of a negative aspect to the Moon or its conjunction with an unfavourable planet, and also its presence in the house of a ruinous planet, the Moon strengthens the good characteristics of the 9th house. A person in whose horoscope a benefic Moon occupies the 9th house will obtain a good education and a broad outlook, will be wise, inclined towards philosophy and religion, and will make many journeys. The construction of reservoirs and cowsheds was considered very prestigious in Vedic times, while at the present time the owner of such a position of the Moon will care for the good and prosperity of society. He will be fortunate and will receive the Highest patronage and protection, as a result of pious activity in previous births.
When the Moon is placed in the sign of Cancer as the lady of the 9th house in the 9th, a strong raja yoga is formed, granting the owner of the horoscope renown, prosperity and wealth. If the sign of Virgo rises, the Moon is in exaltation in the 9th house as the lady of the 11th (the house of profit, income and success). Such a placement of the Moon is also very favourable. The 9th house is the fifth from the 5th house, therefore the children of a person having a benefic Moon in the 9th house of the horoscope will obtain a good education and will become wealthy and prosperous.
Other opinions concerning the Moon (Chandra) in the 9th house:
“Brihat Jataka” — wealth, good friends and powerful sons.
“Phaladipika” — the owner of the horoscope will perform religious deeds and will have good children.
“Saravali” — a person in whose horoscope the Moon occupies the 9th house will become obedient to his parents, devoted to God, happy, intelligent, loved by his children and attractive to the opposite sex.
“Chamatkar Chintamani” — the owner of the horoscope will be respected by all, including the brahmins. He will become courageous, and from his young years fortune will smile on him.
Note: All the authors are united regarding the favourable results of the presence of the Moon in the 9th house. The last remark of the “Chamatkar Chintamani” is dictated by the influence of the Moon on the 3rd house — the house of courage. From this follow the other characteristics of the owner of the horoscope, such as bravery, resolve and nobility.

THE RESULTS OF THE PLACEMENT OF CHANDRA IN THE 9TH BHAVA
A person, in whose birth chart Chandra is placed in the 9th Bhava, is endowed with a wife and a son, loves to listen to the stories of the Puranas (ancient spiritual books about the gods and goddesses), performs auspicious deeds and pilgrimages.
Comments: The 9th Bhava is the Bhava of religion, Tapas [asceticism], auspicious deeds, spiritual books, legends (stories), philosophy, devotion and so on. A benefic and strong Chandra [the Moon] represents clarity and purity of mind. It will give the person the qualities of those Bhavas in which it is located. Therefore it is entirely natural that if Chandra is in the 9th Bhava house in a favourable and benefic position, then the person is inclined towards spirituality, loves the Puranas and pilgrimages, performs auspicious deeds and is fortunate. In people, especially women, who associate with such a person there arises a feeling of respect and reverence towards him; and if the ruler of the 7th Bhava somehow influences Chandra in this position, then the respect passes into a loving kinship and may give a sexual connection between such a person and a woman feeling respect and reverence towards him. The placement of Chandra in the 9th Bhava house is in all cases favourable for the person, since it gives him charity and a striving for the well-being of mankind, and thanks to this he will become very popular. Chandra in this position is also favourable with regard to the person’s ownership of lands and a means of transport, harmony in his inner life, and physical pleasures and comfort, although there will be many rises and falls in his fortune.
