Saturn in the fifth house: Losses and disappointments in love, an absence of joy in life, malicious behaviour, the person has a small circle of acquaintances and friends. The person starts romantic relationships with those below him in social position. He wants to do everything as he himself considers right. There is no place for compromises. It is difficult for them to find mutual understanding with the opposite sex. The person has a delay in entering into marriage. It is difficult to have children, and there is a predisposition towards abortions. If there are children, they are often ill, and all sorts of misfortunes arise for them. Losses from shares and speculative affairs — they must not take part in the market of buying and selling shares. Because of the absence of a flexible mind they may incur losses. Rises and falls, quarrels with friends and with relatives, an absence of family happiness. They are very boring. They want to do everything strictly by the points and by the instructions. They often get angry. If Saturn is strong and is under the aspect of Jupiter, then the negative indications will manifest with less force. Mantreshwara, Kalyanavarma, Vasishtha and other sages write that Saturn in the 5th does not give intelligence, children or wealth, therefore the person remains dissatisfied. (Mahesh Dharmadasa)

“Bhrigu Sutra” 7.22-26
Childlessness and poverty await a person who has Saturn placed in the 5th house. He will work in harmful industries and will adopt a girl. If Saturn is in its own signs, the owner of the horoscope will have daughters. A person in whose horoscope Saturn is aspected by Jupiter will have two wives, one of whom is barren, and the other will give him daughters. A strong Saturn in the 5th house speaks of numerous love infatuations of the master of the horoscope.
Comments:
As a malefic planet, Saturn will negatively influence the characteristics of the 5th house. Among other indications (poverty, persistent labour, disappointment in love, an inclination towards extramarital affairs) Saturn in the 5th house, as the sutras describe, gives the birth of daughters. According to the Vedic tradition, to have a son is the result of favourable karma and of the blessing of God. A woman who has borne a son is considered to have fulfilled her purpose in life, her dharma. If her son attains spiritual realisation, all the sins of the mother are burned away, and through her son a woman may attain moksha, liberation from the circle of rebirths. Therefore the 5th house is called the putra bhava, the house of the son, and the presence of Saturn in it will also be negatively reflected in this characteristic of the 5th house.
In the medical aspect the 5th house denotes the stomach and the intestines, and Saturn being in it may cause the corresponding illnesses. In the cases of Aries, Taurus and Libra rising, Saturn will be in the 5th house as the lord of the 10th and 11th, of the 9th and 10th, of the 4th and 5th houses respectively and will lead to the arising of dhana yogas. Besides, from the 5th house Saturn influences the 11th house and speaks of the loss or absence of friends.
Other opinions concerning Saturn in the 5th house:
“Brihat Jataka” — childlessness and poverty.
“Phaladipika” — the owner of the horoscope will be unfriendly, malicious, deprived of knowledge, children, wealth and happiness. He will move aimlessly from place to place.
“Saravali” — an absence of happiness, wealth, children and friends. The master of the horoscope will be unintelligent and heartless.
“Chamatkar Chintamani” — a restless mind, an unstable material position and childlessness.
Note: All the treatises are united in their opinions concerning the negative results of Saturn being in the 5th house.

The results of the placement of Saturn (Shani) in the 5th house
If at the time of birth the son of Nalinisha (Surya) — Shani — is placed in the Bhava of the son (in the 5th house), he will make the person weak in body because—of constant illnesses, he will be deprived of wealth and of seed — of the happiness of begetting a child (a son).
Comments: If Shani [Saturn] is placed in the 5th Bhava [house], then the person will live in a hostel or the like while receiving his education. He will strive to receive an education in electronics. His point of view is based on reality and is scientific. No astrologer has said that Shani in the 5th Bhava is favourable with regard to children (a son). Shani is considered a neutral, barren (not capable of giving progeny) Graha [planet]. Being placed in the 5th Bhava, Shani aspects the 7th Bhava, on account of which there may be few spermatozoa in the person's seed, and he may experience a lack of reproductive capacity.
