Leo (Simha)
Leo — is a «fiery» sign, indicating a creative, active character with organisational or leadership abilities. They have a majestic appearance, they are tall, or have a large frame, are broad in the shoulders and have a pensive expression on their face. Their character — is noble, brave, polite, stingy, brisk and soft-hearted. They are truthful, sincere in their enthusiasms, sensitive, usually in a good mood, but when they are angered it is not easy to calm them. They are ambitious: often «Leo» people do not achieve their goals, since the goals they set before themselves are too high.
Leo — is a «masculine sign», and therefore these people are independent, strict, and it can at times be hard to live with them. The character of a Leo — is very attractive and strong, reliable and independent. They are capable of sacrifice, but they also follow their physical urges. They also follow the promptings of their heart, which can lead them to poverty.
Although they usually act in their own way, they are tolerant of other people and forgive easily. They are capable of struggle and can occupy a position giving power. They are able to adapt to various surroundings. They love ceremonies and rituals and are interested in self-knowledge.
They may have troubles in relations with their employers, or with people trying to command them. This sign is ruled by the Sun, which indicates a person who is proud, possessing the qualities of a military man, deep in soul, pure of heart, capable of heroism. They are sincere, and you can believe what they say. The classical texts say that a person born under the rising sign of Leo will be fearless, inclined to the consumption of animal food, will love mountains and forests, will read much and avidly, they will be enterprising, their name — widely known; they will irritate their relatives, and will have several marriage partners.

Nakshatras in the sign of Leo
If the ascendant or lagna in Leo falls into the nakshatra Magha , then the person will be generous, but arrogance may appear.
The nakshatra Purva Phalguni will endow the person with charisma and light-heartedness. But the qualities of a leader are not so strongly manifested.
If the ascendant or lagna in Leo falls into the degrees of the nakshatra Uttara Phalguni, then the person will possess a «big» heart.

Lagna in Leo. Leo in Vedic astrology.
Those born with the lagna in Leo possess a bright, striking appearance, a royal manner of bearing themselves and an inclination to command, resembling a king surrounded by a retinue, or a lion at the head of a pride, for the lion is the king of beasts, and the Sun, the lord of Leo, is a regal planet, that centre around which all the remaining planets revolve. As an Indian proverb says, «One jungle — one lion». The point is that the Sun experiences its fall in the 3rd house; this fact may be interpreted in the sense that native Leos do not in the least trouble themselves to provide living space for their younger brothers and sisters: those must find their own jungle in order to rule there themselves. A peculiarity of the leonine temperament may also be that the courage and valour so plainly displayed by Leo natives often turn out on closer inspection to be merely for show and do not withstand serious trials.
The fact that the Sun is at once the lord of the lagna in Leo and the significator of the first house gives native Leos a self-serving, egoistic interest, which some of them can successfully realise by taking part in political games or occupying high posts in the government (since Leo is the 5th house, connected with the occupation of government posts, in the natural zodiac). Leo natives are often fortunate in various transactions with property or possessions, and sometimes, even without being fortunate in them, they all the same yield to the temptation of precisely such an investment of capital, since the Sun's friend Mars is for them the lord of the 4th house (real estate) and of the 9th house (profit, fortune).
The fact that the Sun, representing the atma, or soul, at the same time serves as the significator of the father and of the spiritual life, and moreover is exalted in the 9th house (again both the father and the spiritual life), can arouse in a person a striving for spiritual development, and also indicate that the native's father is an important person. Jupiter, the significator of children, is for Leo the lord both of the 5th house (progeny) and of the eighth house (the house of death), which may limit the number of children, and may have a negative effect on their longevity. The influence of the eighth house in them is weaker than it might be, since Sagittarius — the 5th house for this lagna — is for Jupiter a mulatrikona and therefore stronger in comparison with the 8th house in Pisces.
Since the ruler of the lagna, the Sun, is the brightest planet, and the lord of the 7th house, Saturn, on the contrary, the dimmest, Leo natives usually take upon themselves the leading role in marital and friendly unions — or, at least, would like to. Such a situation can lead to tension, since Saturn, the enemy of the Sun and the planet most distant from the Sun, is at one and the same time the lord of the 7th house (the house of relationships) and of the 6th house (the 12th from the 7th) — the house of enemies.
Robert Svoboda
Leo — is the sign of the Sun, an odd, that is, positive, fixed sign of fire, the solar plexus of the Cosmic Man (the Universal Form of the Supreme Lord — personified time). Its symbol is the lion. As sign number five it indicates a need for order and harmony, concentrated around a central source of will and strength of character.
Leo natives possess a powerful sense of «I», a firm character and a strong will. A Leo knows well who they are, and wishes other people to recognise this too. They are proud, brave, ambitious and noble. Everything happening around them evokes in them strong and deeply personal reactions.
Leo natives are striking in their self-expression, but sometimes they are vain. They like to shine in society, however they are inclined to subordinate those around them to their will. They strive to be at the centre of attention and dream of honours, respect and prestige. Many Leo natives are strong in spirit, adhere to high principles and are endowed with an outstanding intellect. The manners of a Leo can be very refined, and their world-view — philosophical.
A Leo has a noble heart, however they may suffer from excessively strong emotions or from an excessive need for attention. In partnership relations Leo natives do not always show themselves at their best. They are inclined to conclude unions with people inferior to them in merits, or else they try to place the partner in a dependent position. Children may cause a Leo grief, since they by no means always grant them independence of their own accord. If a Leo turns everyone around them into members of their retinue, then sooner or later they will rebel. But if they manage to curb their pride, they will be able to develop an exceptional strength of character which will help them in all the vicissitudes of life and will endow them with spiritual receptivity. Concentrating their attention on their inner world, a Leo can attain true greatness of soul. But since Leo natives usually approach themselves with the highest standards, failure or incomplete success in achieving a goal can plunge them into despondency.

RESULTS OF BIRTH IN SIMHA LAGNA [Leo]
«Jataka-Bharanam» 13:5. If a person's birth occurred in Simha [Leo], then their body is weak, they are handsome, valiant (mighty), sensual, they have few sons, they eat little food and are proud of being more intelligent than others.
Commentary: Simha [Leo] is a Rashi [sign] of immovable nature. Its ruler is Surya [the Sun]. Its primary element is Fire. People born in this Lagna are fearless, ambitious and their mind has Rajasic inclinations. They never lose sight of their goal, there is always present in them a strong desire to rise above the average level, and therefore, thanks to their will-power, resoluteness and skill, they achieve success in attaining a position that distinguishes them from others. Because of a strong feeling of freedom they do not tolerate anyone's urgings or commands. Their heart is broad, and their main trait is magnanimity. They respect more highly placed people in their field of activity, but they do not allow themselves to be treated as lower people. People born with Simha Lagna devote their whole life entirely to their goal of making themselves different from others. On occasion they speak highly of themselves in order to attract people's attention to themselves. At such moments pride becomes clearly visible in them. They love always to be at the centre, they possess a strong mind, high principles and firm resoluteness, thanks to which they continuously purify (improve) their way of life. They will have to face the indignation of close people, because they are incapable of giving freedom to their subordinates. But even so compassion remains in their heart. There is present in them a great power of attractiveness, thanks to which they receive fame and the respect of others. They develop in themselves an astonishing abstinence in all other directions, apart from the financial and economic. In their heart they are truthful, honest and adherents of high ideals and moral principles. Often they fall into sorrow because of their hasty trust in other people.
The author of the treatise ‘Jataka-Parijata’ writes of them: A person born under Simha-Lagna has several sons, their mind is satisfied, they are strong, valiant, loved by the king, gains victory over enemies, is lustful (sensual) and makes journeys to other countries.
According to the author of the book ‘Man-Sagri’ a person whose birth occurred in Simha Lagna is voluptuous (enjoys pleasures), conquers and subdues their enemies, their belly is small, they have several children, they are enthusiastic and display valour and bravery in battle.
