Mars in the 10th house gives a spirited, strong character with the qualities of an investigator and a pioneer; these people are skilful in performing their work and act successfully in the fields of mechanics, real estate, the operation of machinery, agriculture, the transport industries and so on. They love polemics, are energetic, and suffer from offences or persecutions. They are highly valued for their service, performed with a sense of duty; they are impulsive and may be perfidious. The 10th house shows work, reputation and fame. This is the very best place (dig bala) for Mars. This is the place of work, and Mars always dreams of working. In this house it works in full swing. There are no lazy people among those who have Mars in the 10th house: they can work day and night. If such a person (who has Mars in the 10th) begins the mahadasha of Mars at an active age, such a person will certainly achieve great success during the mahadasha of Mars. If the ruler of a country has Mars in the 10th, and its dasha begins, in that period he will become a great dictator. In former times such rulers conquered foreign territories. They are very proud and love to criticise others. They are suited to such jobs where they can apply their energy.
Such people do not think about others; it does not concern them. They are concentrated only on their own success. They have one aim: to be the chief and the best of all! If Mars is placed in a good sign under the aspect of favourable planets, in its dasha (period) they will have the highest growth. They will obtain this very quickly, because Mars always does everything quickly. Just as Mars kills a person quickly, so quickly does it bring success. This is a very good placement for a businessman. When Mars is in the 10th house, the person must be the chief, independent and have the freedom to take decisions on his own.
There is one nuance. It is considered that if such a Mars gives the person great success during the period of Mars, he will lose all his wealth after the period of the mahadasha of Mars, when the mahadasha of Rahu begins, especially if Rahu is badly placed in the chart. As always, here one must look at all the details: in which sign, with whom and under which aspect it is located. It is better for Mars to be in its own sign or in exaltation and not to receive aspects from malefics. If Mars is in the 10th house in its own sign (Aries or Scorpio), or in its sign of exaltation (Capricorn), the person forms ruchaka yoga, which gives great success. Ruchaka yoga is formed when Mars is in any kendra (the 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th houses) in its own sign or its sign of exaltation. (Mahesh Dharmadasa)
Mars (Mangala) in the 10th house

Mars in the 10th house (receives directional strength — dig bala): organisational and leadership abilities, success, inexhaustible reserves of energy; he removes hindrances and obstacles, attains a managerial post. More sons are born in the family. Such a position tells badly on the mother’s health. Mars in a dual sign (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) in the Lagna, the 4th or the 10th house grants prosperity during its dasha. Mars in the 10th house rewards the person with a high status. A person with Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 10th or 11th house skilfully manages the finances of hospitals, police stations, security firms and industrial enterprises. “Bhrigu Sutra” 3.75-85
A person who has Mars in the 10th house of the horoscope will be loved and respected by other people. If the lord of the 10th house is strong, then the brothers of the owner of the horoscope will live long. The person will be especially fortunate and prosperous when Mars occupies the 10th house of the horoscope. He will become interested in meditation and will show devotion to his preceptor. In the case of a conjunction of Mars with a ruinous planet, obstacles in professional activity are observed. When Mars is conjunct with a favourable planet or is in the house of a favourable planet, the owner of the horoscope will achieve success in his undertakings. He will become famous and respected and will begin to earn money as early as the age of 18. His build will be robust and muscular. He will be well off in all respects, but inclined towards theft. When Mars is in the house of a ruinous planet, the life of the owner of the horoscope will be full of obstacles and sinful actions. A person in whose horoscope Mars is conjunct with the lord of the 9th or 10th houses will be crowned as a king or heir to the throne. When Mars is conjunct with Jupiter, the owner of the horoscope will have elephants as a means of transport and landed property and will become well known.
Comments:
The 10th house is an upachaya house, where ruinous planets give very good results. This manifests especially when it is in a house ruled by a benefic planet and with a fortunate placement of the latter.
The placement in a house of upachaya and of the quadrant is so favourable for Mars that although the 10th house has no relation to brothers, Mars, as the bhratri karaka, the indicator of brothers, gives them a long life, and to the owner of the horoscope himself — honour, respect and renown. If Mars is in its own sign (Aries or Scorpio), it is the lord of the 10th house and forms a raja yoga. The same thing happens with Leo rising (Mars in Taurus) or with Pisces rising (Mars in Sagittarius), since in that case Mars is the lord of the 9th house. Besides this, when it is in a kendra from the rising sign in its own abode or its sign of exaltation, ruchaka yoga is formed, the results of which have been described repeatedly.

“Phaladipika” — a person in whose horoscope Mars occupies the 10th house will be a vivid, strong personality, like a king and inclined towards charity. His character will be very hard, but everyone will admire him.
“Saravali” — the owner of the horoscope will be very well qualified in his work, valorous, invincible, filled with fame and blessed with children.
“Chamatkar Chintamani” — universal respect awaits the owner of the horoscope. Even if he is born in a modest family, he will rise very high thanks to his brilliant intellect. He will be brave and like a lion.
Note: The authors do not describe the unfavourable results with a conjunction of Mars with a ruinous planet or in a house ruled by one, which Bhrigu Muni indicates.

THE RESULTS OF THE PLACEMENT OF MANGALA IN THE 10TH BHAVA
Mangala, placed in the 10th Bhava, makes the person a king or like a king, very satisfied, bold and enterprising, always ready to do good to others; he possesses beautiful things, ornaments, jewels and also precious stones.
Comments: The placement of Mangala [Mars] in the 10th Bhava [house] is considered very favourable by all learned authors on Vedic astrology. If there is a Raja Yoga in the birth chart, then Mangala in this position will grant the person a high post in the army or the police, and a noble title thanks to good work. Mangala in the 10th Bhava is endowed with directional strength <Dig Bala>. The placement of Mangala in the 10th Bhava is extremely favourable for all the spheres for which it is the Karaka [significator]; therefore a person with this placement of Mangala in the birth chart will be skilful in sporting competitions and games, in horse riding, wrestling and the like, will obtain profit in agricultural activity and will exert influence on others; the orders of such a person are carried out. If in the 10th Bhava Mangala is in conjunction with a benefic Graha [planet] or if it is in the Rashi [sign] of a benefic Graha, then the person will obtain success in everything and day by day his authority will grow; he will be energetic, vivid, healthy and with a strong body. According to other learned authors on Jyotish, thanks to the placement of Mangala in the 10th Bhava the person obtains popularity, is endowed with luck and a good character, is devoted to his teacher and his brothers live long.
