Comments:

This placement of Mars is quite unfavourable. One may expect the loss of the marriage partner (the influence of Mars on the 7th house), various restrictions in life, unreasonable expenditures, poverty and misfortunes. Dishonour, disgrace and deceit are possible. Being in the 12th house, Mars also destroys the good indications of the house of which it is the lord. But Mars may also give favourable results if it is in its own sign. In that case occult or magical abilities, a striving to serve other people, a good financial position and engagement in charity may manifest.

The 12th house is the eighth from the 5th, the suta bhava, the house of children. Women with such a position of Mars may have difficult childbirth. Mars in the 12th house is one of the signs of infertility or childlessness, but in order to draw final conclusions the presence of factors in the horoscope confirming this is necessary.

Other opinions concerning Mars in the 12th house:

“Brihat Jataka” — degradation of the personality.

“Phaladipika” — the owner of the horoscope will be a slanderer, dishonest and miserly. He will lose his wife and will suffer from eye diseases.

“Saravali” — dubious principles, baseness, meanness and cruelty. Eye diseases are possible. The owner of the horoscope may become the murderer of his wife and spend long years in prison.

“Chamatkar Chintamani” — a person who has Mars in the 12th house of the horoscope should beware of thefts. He himself will be untruthful and atheistic.

THE RESULTS OF THE PLACEMENT OF MANGALA IN THE 12TH BHAVA

The placement of Mangala in the 12th Bhava will give the person enmity with friends, disease of the eyes, an inclination to be angry, weakness (indisposition) in the limbs, excessive expenditures, imprisonment and a loss of energy.

Comments: Being in the 12th Bhava [house], Mangala [Mars] aspects the 7th Bhava, which creates harm to the person’s wife. Therefore this placement too is a Mangali Yoga <Kuja Dosha>. If there is an influence of a malefic Graha on Mangala in the 12th Bhava, then this Yoga will lead to an operation on the eyes, imprisonment, damage to the feet and so on.

A Graha in the 12th Bhava spends its qualities. The quality of Mangala is to be angry; therefore if Mangala occupies the 12th Bhava, then the person will be excessively wrathful. According to other authors on Vedic astrology, because of the placement of Mangala [Mars] in the 12th Bhava there will be negative propaganda <rumours or assertions> against the person, danger from thieves and participation in quarrels; hostility and friction with various relatives are likely; the person suffers from distress and sorrow because of servants, he has troubles because of bondage (hired labour), danger from enemies, he commits base actions, becomes corrupt <dishonest>, desires to seize the wealth of others, his mind is changeable, and he gets diseases of the ears, throat and blood.
