The Moon in the 6th house

The results given by the Moon in the sixth house of the horoscope

Chandra (the Moon) in the 6th house

The Moon in the 6th house: Problems with health in youth, a divorce of the parents is possible, pessimism, periods of humiliation and want, many enemies. The Moon in the 6th house endows one with a striving to help others. (Indubala)

The Moon in the sixth house: a low level of vital energy, pedantry, an unsuitable position for health and popularity. (Shri Govind Swarup Agarwal)

The Moon in the 6th house: the 6th house is not very favourable for the Moon. The Moon here gives poor health, especially in early childhood. The 6th house is the stomach and digestion. For food to be digested well, one needs to have a normal temperature. The Moon does not have such energy. Therefore undigested food remains in the stomach. Such people often develop intestinal disorders. If the Moon is in conjunction with or under the aspect of malefics, all the noble indications of the Moon disappear, and the person will suffer from various troubles. (Mahesh Dharmadasa)

“Bhrigu Sutra” 2.33-40

Poverty and illnesses threaten a person who has the Moon occupying the 6th house of the horoscope. At 36 he may develop an illicit relationship with a widow. With a ruinous aspect to the Moon in the 6th house, the owner of the horoscope will commit sinful deeds. The Moon in conjunction with Rahu or Ketu will deprive the owner of the horoscope of wealth and brothers, will make him envious and quarrelsome, suffering from diseases of the stomach, and will give strong enemies. Watery places such as wells, ponds and various reservoirs will be dangerous for his life. A conjunction of the Moon with a malefic planet will bring the owner of the horoscope numerous illnesses. With a waning Moon all the negative characteristics of its placement in the 6th house will manifest in full measure. With a favourable conjunction of the Moon the owner of the horoscope will be strong and healthy.

Comments:

The 6th house is a dusthana, or ruinous, evil house. The presence of favourable planets in the dusthanas speaks of negative karma from past lives and of the manifestation of such qualities as envy, pride, vanity and an inclination towards impious activity. Hence, as a working off of negative karma — numerous illnesses and dangerous enemies. With a ruinous aspect the negative tendencies are strengthened, while with a good aspect (for example of Jupiter from the 1st or from the 11th, or from the 9th houses) the owner of the horoscope will be strong, hardy and endowed with robust health. Besides this, according to the “Parashara Hora Shastra”, the ruinous points of the placement of the Moon in the 6th house are removed if the birth took place in the daytime during a waning Moon or at night during a waxing Moon.

Other opinions concerning the Moon (Chandra) in the 6th house:

“Brihat Jataka” — coarseness and laziness will be characteristic of the owner of the horoscope. He will have many enemies, disorders of digestion, low sexual potency and a weak character.

“Phaladipika” — being crushed and destroyed by enemies, the owner of the horoscope will live a short life, suffering from diseases of the stomach.

“Saravali” — a short life and diseases of the stomach await a person who has a waning Moon placed in the 6th house.

“Chamatkar Chintamani” — the owner of the horoscope will become famous for his noble deeds, will crush his enemies, will oppose the king or the government and will not care for his mother.

Note: All the classical texts, except the “Chamatkar Chintamani”, note negative characteristics of the placement of the Moon in the 6th house. Fame and victory over enemies await the owner of the horoscope only with a substantial favourable influence on the Moon, in the case of its exaltation or its presence in its own sign.

THE RESULTS OF THE PLACEMENT OF CHANDRA IN THE 6TH BHAVA

If Chandra is placed in the 6th Bhava, then the person suffers from disorders of the stomach, is inclined to be cruel, exceptionally lazy, serious, has a bad character, is irascible and has many enemies.

Comments: Chandra [the Moon], placed in the 6th Bhava [house], is not considered favourable by any learned author on Jyotish, since Chandra in this Bhava gives the person misfortune, because of which he struggles with many illnesses. Because of the placement of Chandra in the 6th  Bhava the person does not adhere to the discipline established for him by someone. If relations with someone are spoiled, then his mind will not be at peace until he subdues his opponent. As long as the opponent or interlocutor of such a person is hostile, proud or arrogant, he will obtain nothing from the person by good means. But if he yields to the person and abandons these feelings, then he may obtain everything from him.

Chandra, placed in the 6th Bhava, will hinder the person’s heartfelt relations with his mother and will give a large number of enemies. The person will have an insufficient appetite, will be inclined towards a profession not requiring enterprise, will become involved in a lawsuit, has a small family and a weak body. The combination will cause an inclination towards cruelty and will give practicality.
