Jupiter in the 6th house

The results given by Jupiter in the sixth house of the horoscope

Jupiter in the 6th house indicates one who serves some significant person. People with such a placement of Jupiter are vain, they may often quarrel with others. They are usually healthy, they have many opportunities to travel. A small number of children and an unwise use of money should be expected. (Tom Hopke)

Jupiter in the 6th house: A bad place for Jupiter. A lazy, sluggish, joyless person. A predisposition towards harmful habits, especially in the charts of men. The person is often subject to illnesses, especially if it is in conjunction with malefics or in a sign of Saturn. This is the house of the mother's brothers and sisters, and such people do not get on with their maternal uncles and aunts. Their subordinates will work honestly. With a good placement of Jupiter they defeat their enemies. Such people have a great love for animals, and they keep them at home. If Jupiter is placed as the ruler of a favourable house, the indications of that house will give bad results. If it is damaged, he may have conflicts with teachers, with subordinates. Women may have problems with the husband. Jupiter in the sixth house gives illnesses of the liver and new growths of the internal organs. (Mahesh Dharmadasa)

Jupiter (Guru) in the 6th house

Jupiter in the 6th house. Victory over enemies, a period of humiliations in life is possible, empty expenditures, few children, an inclination towards quarrels, vanity. As a rule, such people have good health, they travel a great deal. (Indubala)

Jupiter in the 6th house: sickliness, an excessively responsible attitude to work, healing abilities, poverty. Victory over opponents. A weak and afflicted Jupiter in the 6th house creates a Putra dosha [an affliction of the sphere of children. — translator's note] If Jupiter is in an apoklima (the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th houses) — the early years of life are happy. (Shri Govind Swarup Agarwal)

“Bhrigu Sutra” 5.32-34

The owner of the horoscope will destroy his enemies. He will have a large family and many grandchildren. There may be marks from wounds on his body. If Jupiter is in conjunction with a benefic planet, the owner of the horoscope will have good health. When Jupiter is joined with an inauspicious planet or is in its house, complications after colds or rheumatism should be expected. If Jupiter is in the signs of Saturn in conjunction with Rahu or Ketu, illnesses of the worst type are possible.

Comments:

The words of Bhrigu Muni that the master of the horoscope will have a large family should be understood as an increase in the number of relatives, since the 6th house is the third (a house of upachaya — of increase, of growth) to the 4th house. The 6th house has no relation to grandchildren, but their birth speaks of a long life of the owner of the horoscope, since the 6th house is the eleventh (a house of upachaya) to the 8th, the house of the length of life. The main characteristic of the 6th house is enemies, and the beneficial influence of Jupiter gives victory over them. With regard to another important indication of the 6th house — illnesses — exhaustive characteristics are given.

It should be taken into account that the 6th house is a dusthana, and the indications of the house of which Jupiter is the lord become unfavourable.

Other opinions concerning Jupiter in the 6th house:

“Brihat Jataka” — the owner of the horoscope will have no enemies.

“Phaladipika” — Jupiter in the 6th house will destroy enemies, but will give laziness and humiliation to the master of the horoscope, endowing him, nevertheless, with a strong mind and an inclination towards the repetition of mantras.

“Saravali” — a person with such a placement of Jupiter in the horoscope will win his enemies over to his side, will be famous, but humiliated. He will be able to become renowned through his wife and will suffer from illnesses connected with raised acidity.

“Chamatkar Chintamani” — the rout of enemies, happiness from the wife, troubles from the maternal uncle, poor health and illnesses of the mother.

Note: All the sources mention both the favourable and the unfavourable characteristics of the placement of Jupiter in the 6th house, and the “Bhrigu Sutra” examines the manifestation of these or those indications in detail.

The results of the placement of Jupiter (Guru) in the 6th house

If the minister of Surendra — Guru, who is the Teacher of the Gods and the minister of Surendra, the King of the gods — is placed in the Bhava of enemies (in the 6th house), then the person loves music, thirsts for fame and glory and gains victory over his enemies, but such a person is too lazy to complete what he has begun to do.

Comments: Guru [Jupiter], being in the 6th Bhava [house], makes the person full of pride. The enemies of such a person cannot beat him, he has a strong tendency to give patronage to his caste (estate). If Jupiter in the 6th house receives beneficial influences, then the person possesses devoted servants; and if malefic influences, then he will suffer from illnesses of the liver, abscesses in the internal organs or the like.
