The Moon in the 11th house: the 11th house is good for all planets. Because it is the house of profit (the 11th house) from the lagna (from oneself) and the house of money (the 2nd house) from work (the 10th house). Here all planets bring wealth. A favourable Moon gives a good family, children, wealth, friends and longevity. If the Moon is in the 11th house in the sign of Taurus or Cancer, the person will not be able to obtain material goods. Such a favourable Moon in the 11th house wants to give not money but spiritual development. The Moon acts so that the person loses some part of his fortune and takes the spiritual path. “Bhrigu Sutra” 2.61-69

The owner of the horoscope will be well educated and will be able to bring benefit to other people. By the age of 50 he will have many sons. A weak lord of the 11th house will bring a multitude of expenditures, while a strong and well-placed one — wealth, and moreover the presence of the Moon in the 11th house will allow him to attain prosperity without particular effort. If the Moon is in conjunction with Venus, the owner of the horoscope will have means of transport set in motion by people. He will become fortunate, highly educated,
will own land and will protect other people.

Comments:

The 11th house is a house of upachaya, or of profit, and the placement of the Moon in it is very favourable, especially if the Moon is waxing. Such a placement of the Moon gives the owner of the horoscope good manners, charm, popularity, a friendly attitude towards those around, influence in society, many friends, independence, ambitiousness and good fortune. All the favourable qualities of the placement of the Moon in the 11th house manifest in full measure in the absence of a strong negative influence (for example: an aspect from Mars in Cancer from the 5th house onto the Moon in Capricorn). The Moon, as a fertile planet, influencing the 5th from the 11th house, will grant the owner of the horoscope many children.

As sutra 67 asserts, the Moon in conjunction with Venus will bring means of transport set in motion by people. Probably palanquins are meant, which were considered objects of luxury in Vedic times. This combination in our time should be interpreted in the sense that the owner of the horoscope will have prestigious and expensive makes of car or other kinds of transport. Venus is the indicator of means of transport, and its conjunction with the Moon in the 11th house will give this result.

Strong dhana yogas, combinations of planets indicating wealth and prosperity, arise in the following cases:

• the lagna in Gemini, and the Moon, as the lady of the 2nd house, is placed in the 11th house in Aries;

• the lagna in Virgo, and the Moon, the lady of the 11th house, is in its own house;

• the lagna in Cancer, and the Moon, the lady of the 1st house, is exalted in the 11th house.

Other opinions concerning the Moon (Chandra) in the 11th house:

“Brihat Jataka” — a person will become famous and wealthy if the Moon in his horoscope is placed in the 11th house.

“Phaladipika” — the owner of the horoscope will be a great thinker. He will live a long life, will become wealthy, and his sons will bring him happiness.

“Saravali” — wealth, many sons, friends and servants, a long life, fame and valour.

“Chamatkar Chintamani” — The owner of the horoscope will have great merits before society, honour, influence and power. Despite the fact that he will often be pursued by failures in his undertakings, he will become very wealthy and will enjoy the company of beautiful women. The owner of the horoscope will have only daughters.

Note: All the learned authors are unanimous in their opinion concerning the placement of the Moon in the 11th house. The statement of the “Chamatkar Chintamani” may be refined as follows: “The owner of the horoscope will have only daughters”. — This is true when the Moon is in feminine, even signs; “..failures in undertakings” are to be expected only with a negative aspect to the Moon.

THE RESULTS OF THE PLACEMENT OF CHANDRA IN THE 11TH BHAVA:

If in the birth chart Chandra is in the 11th Bhava, then the person will obtain great respect. The Moon in the eleventh house - the happiness of enjoying several kinds of means of transport. He is known for his righteousness, is inclined towards sensual pleasures and is virtuous.

Comments: A person with this combination, as a rule, realises his aspirations. He obtains sufficient benefit from his popularity or renown (fame), and works in a social institution with full dedication. He has many daughters. A weak Chandra subject  to ruinous influence, placed in the 11th Bhava, cuts the person off from society.
