Mars in the 2nd house
The results given by Mars in the second house of the horoscope
In the 2nd house Mars makes the person an orator, although he does not particularly like to talk. His voice suppresses others. He has hard, coarse speech. He does not know how to speak softly. His arguments win. He knows how to earn money; anyone will give him money, because he has persuasive speech. His words carry great energy and a commanding tone. Other people cannot disobey him. He earns a lot of money, but also spends a lot. It is difficult for him to accumulate a large fortune. The 2nd house is also called kutumbha sthana. Kutumbha is family life or the family after marriage. This means that the success of the marriage depends on the condition of the 2nd house. If Mars is in the 2nd house, it is difficult for the person to live long in marriage peacefully. He often has conflicts with relatives. His children may die early. Mars leaves a mark where it is located. The 2nd house is the eyes, the face, the teeth, the throat. Here Mars may break the person’s teeth, give an injury to the face and leave some scar. If Mars is in the 2nd house, it is easier for the person to earn money where he can apply his persuasive speech. (Mahesh Dharmadasa)
Mars (Mangala) in the 2nd house
Mars in the 2nd house. Talkativeness, a love of arguments, bluntness, criticalness. Such people have mathematical abilities, are interested in politics, and earn money through real estate. There may be periods of poverty in their lives, but in mature age wealth comes to them. This placement of Mars tells badly on the family: the parental family breaks up, and in his own there are problems. (Indubala)
Mars in the 2nd house: generous, wasteful; blunt, honest, resolute, receives an inheritance. A hot temperament, evil-tongued. Work with fire, machinery, iron objects. Eyes with a reddish tinge; during the period of Mars-Sun or Mars-Moon there is a danger of damage to the eyes. A manglik. A person with Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 10th or 11th house skilfully manages the finances of hospitals, police stations, security firms and industrial enterprises. He also receives support from relatives. (Shri Govind Swarup Agarwal)
“Bhrigu Sutra” 3.10-15
A person who has Mars placed in the 2nd house of the horoscope will have no education, but will be able to earn a considerable fortune himself. If Mars is in conjunction with the lord of the 6th house, the owner of the horoscope will suffer from eye diseases such as cataract, blindness and others. This may not happen, or the owner of the horoscope may successfully be cured of his ailments, if the conjunction is aspected by a benefic planet. If Mars is in one of its own signs or is exalted, a good education and excellent eyesight are to be expected. If Mars is conjunct with a ruinous planet or is placed in its sign, or is aspected by an unfavourable planet, eye diseases will arise.
Comments:
If Mars alone is placed in the 2nd house, then the owner of such a horoscope will not obtain a good education, since the ruinous character of Mars will be reflected on this signification of the 2nd house, but he will make great efforts to acquire wealth. The 2nd house is the house of wealth, and Mars is the indicator of property, and its placement in the 2nd house will undoubtedly bring a considerable fortune to the owner of this position. If Mars is in Aries, then the rising sign is Pisces, and Mars is the lord of the 2nd and 9th houses. In that case a dhana yoga is formed, giving wealth, high erudition, renown and fame. When Mars is in Scorpio, Libra rises, and Mars becomes the lord of the 2nd and 7th houses. This placement gives the opportunity to obtain wealth through the marriage partner. In the case of an exalted Mars the rising sign will be Sagittarius, that is, Mars, the lord of the 5th house, will be exalted in the 2nd house, which also leads to the creation of a strong dhana yoga, giving great wealth and happiness through children. Good results also manifest with Aries, Scorpio, Cancer and Leo rising.
Other opinions concerning Mars in the 2nd house:
“Brihat Jataka” — bad food will fall to the lot of the owner of the horoscope.
“Phaladipika” — a repellent, unattractive appearance, service to low people, coarse speech and an absence of education.
“Saravali” — a person who has Mars in the 2nd house of the horoscope will be poor and stupid, will eat bad food and move in the society of dishonest people.

Note: All the classical texts mention only negative characteristics of the placement of Mars in the 2nd house, whereas the “Bhrigu Sutra” considers the positive ones too.

«Jataka Bharanam» 17:26
If Mangala is placed in the 2nd Bhava, then the person is poor, dependent on immoral people, stupid, ignorant, cruel and disposed in opposition to those close to him.
Comments: Mangala in the 2nd Bhava in a fiery Rashi [sign] under the influence of Grahas [planets] of a fiery nature inspires the person to grow rich as early as possible. If the ruler of the 6th Bhava is in conjunction with Mangala or aspects it, then in the person’s family there arise quarrels, disputes, conflicts and a state of opposition (enmity) towards each other. Besides this, conflicts also arise when the person borrows (asks for a loan), not only from his relatives but also from other people. The person may undergo a surgical operation on the eyes.
He is accustomed to eating hot food and drinking tea often. Mangala in the 2nd Bhava is unfavourable for the longevity of the person’s wife. Besides this, from the placement of Mangala in the 2nd Bhava one may predict diseases of the teeth, danger from thieves, fire and so on.
