Venus in the 1st house serves as a sign of a person of a charismatic cast, with a “divine spark”, a beautiful appearance and attractive as a personality. They relate beautifully to others and become leaders and teachers. They have inclinations towards art and may be skilled in music or dancing. Pleasures and fortune accompany them in affairs connected with houses, motor cars and the opposite sex. Their health suffers as a result of excessive indulgence, of the abuse of something. Venus in the first house: A very attractive appearance, a calm and gentle character, the ability to love and to be loved. Any good planet (Jupiter, Venus, Mercury) in the 1st house gives very favourable results. The person does not have to face difficult life situations, great financial problems. A strong Venus in the 1st house gives an easy, cheerful life. When Venus is in the 1st house in exaltation or in its own sign, a malavya yoga is formed for the person (one of the pancha-maha-purusha yogas), which brings wealth, happiness, well-being in the family, longevity. Venus in the 1st house: attractive, refined, pleases the opposite sex, thirsts for a comfortable life, susceptible to compliments and flattery, falls in love at first sight. If Venus in the horoscope occupies the 1st, 2nd, 10th or 11th house, the person can successfully manage the finances of shopping centres, amusement parks, cinemas, sports complexes, art galleries, and also of organisations that engage in the provision of services or the sale of objects of luxury. “Bhrigu Sutra” 6.1-13
Venus in the 1st house speaks of a great length of life and good knowledge of mathematics. The owner of the horoscope will be loved by his wife and will be liked by many women. He will become a great connoisseur of the beautiful, loving ornaments and beautiful clothing. If Venus is in conjunction with a beneficial planet, the body of the owner of the horoscope will radiate a light like gold. He will own a multitude of jewels. When Venus is joined with or aspected by a malefic planet or is in the sign of its debilitation, the master of the horoscope will become a thief, a deceiver, a swindler and will suffer from rheumatic illnesses. When a benefic planet occupies the 4th house, the owner of the horoscope will be prosperous and will have elephants as means of transport. If Venus is placed in its own sign, all the results of the maharaja yoga will manifest: fame, wealth and glory. A person who has a weak Venus in the horoscope or whose Venus is the mistress of the 8th, 6th or 12th houses will have two wives, changeable fortune, and will himself be cruel and unfeeling.
Comments:
Being in the 1st house, Venus rewards the owner of the horoscope with great attractiveness, charm, femininity, gentleness and good qualities of character. Five planets — Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mars and Mercury, being in the houses of the quadrant in their own signs or in the signs of exaltation, form the pancha-mahapurusha yogas, the “five yogas of great
joy”, the results of which have already been described in the previous chapters. Venus in these positions, that is, in the signs of Taurus, Libra and Pisces, forms the so-called malavya yoga, the characteristics of which are the following: “The owner of the horoscope will have a harmonious build and strong feelings. He will be energetic, rich, will own means of transport, will be happy with his wife and children, will become famous and educated”.
Sutra 11, in which it is asserted that in cases where Venus is the mistress of the 6th, 8th and 12th houses, negative characteristics manifest, is not entirely just, since, if Venus is the mistress of the 8th house, and the 8th house is placed in Taurus, and the lagna — in Libra, a malavya yoga and a maharaja yoga are formed, the results of which are described in the 10th sutra. If Venus is the mistress of the 8th house, and the 8th house is placed in Libra, and Venus is in the 1st house in the sign of Pisces, a malavya yoga is formed. When Venus is the mistress of the 6th house, and the 6th house falls in the sign of Libra, then the 1st house, correspondingly, will be in Taurus. Venus being in it creates a maharaja yoga. And only when the sign of Sagittarius rises, and the 6th house is placed in Taurus and when Venus is the mistress of the 12th house, do the negative characteristics mentioned in sutra 11 manifest.
For rising Capricorn and Aquarius Venus is a yoga-karaka, a planet of strength, and its presence in the 1st house will prove extraordinarily beneficial for the owner of the horoscope and will bring great opportunities, great talents, wealth, fame and all the comforts of this world. With the placement of Venus in Virgo a dhana yoga is formed, since Venus is the mistress of the 2nd and 9th houses. This grants the master of the horoscope wealth, which, in all probability, will be earned by dishonest means, because Bhrigu Muni describes the owner of the horoscope as “a thief and a swindler”.

“Phaladipika” — the owner of the horoscope will live a long, happy life. He will have a beautiful body and enchanting eyes.
“Saravali” — beauty, happiness, the love of women and a long life.
“Chamatkar Chintamani” — the owner of the horoscope will be handsome and will love the company of noble people and beautiful women. He will perform pious deeds and will live in luxury.
Note: All the ancient treatises mention the favourable characteristics of the placement of Venus in the 1st house, but the “Bhrigu Sutra” examines them in more detail.

The results of the placement of Venus (Shukra) in the 1st house
With the placement of Shukra in the Lagna (the 1st Bhava), the person will be skilful in many arts, pure, handsome and will speak sweetly, will receive pleasure from having sex with a very beautiful wife, will receive fame and wealth thanks to the king.
Comments: The Karakatvas (significations) of Shukra [Venus] are connected with speech, wealth, happiness thanks to a beautiful wife, property and so on. If in the Lagna Shukra is in a beneficial Rashi [sign], then the person speaks sweetly, is inclined towards sensual pleasures, is interested in music, is endowed with royal magnificence and loves amusements. Any Graha [planet], being in the Lagna, exerts the strongest influence on the character and individuality of the person. The direction of the influence depends on the favourable or unfavourable position of that Graha — that is, on whether the Rashi in the Lagna is beneficial or malefic. If Shukra, placed in the Lagna, is in an unfavourable position, then the person will be ill-bred, with bad manners, of little culture, with some bad habit, exceedingly sexual, and will enter into illicit relations with several women. Besides this, he does not think about the decency or indecency of the means of earning wealth.
