Pisces (Mina)

Rising sign — Pisces

Pisces — is a «watery» sign, ruled by Jupiter. «Pisces» natives are usually religious and emotional, they serve well, and are interested in knowledge about spiritual liberation. By nature they are timid, or superstitious. They are stubborn, but pleasant and polite. They may suffer as a consequence of their indecisiveness and lack of self-confidence. Restless and romantic, they dream of distant places and love to travel by water. Although they are rich, and have good relations with other people, they are not satisfied with their everyday life and seek consolation in philosophy, or in intoxicants. They are creative people, with a strong imagination, and they are troubled by sexual desires. Because they are somewhat unthrifty, they squander their money. They may be lazy, and yet these are exalted souls, capable of giving transcendental inspiration to us, less fortunate people. «Pisces» people love history, and they are disposed to charitable and righteous activity. Outwardly they are strong, with thick lips and a large nose. They obtain good wives and husbands, but are jealous and suspicious with regard to their partners. These are independent and active people, orthodox, and sometimes fanatical. They are educated, possess considerable abilities, and may become famous, owing to the fact that they possess great influence over people and are perceived by them as very sincere. They are loved by representatives of the other sex, have people who serve them, and can manage money well. They make good bankers, actors and actresses, travellers and priests. Indubala — Pisces: meditation on the symbol of the sign

Lagna in Mina, or the ascendant in Pisces

Mina is ruled by Guru, Jupiter. The symbol of this sign is two fishes swimming in different directions. Pisces natives are sensitive, emotional, unstable, easily yield to another's influence, dreamy and impractical. Often they experience inner contradictions, indecisiveness, difficulty in making a choice.

Jupiter endows them with an inclination and interest towards philosophy and religion, and gives pedagogical abilities.

In this sign Venus is exalted and endows Pisces natives with an attractive and magnetic appearance, artistic talents, musical abilities.

Mercury is weakened in Pisces, and therefore Pisces natives are often unsociable, withdrawn, and live in their own world.

Pisces natives are mysterious, attractive in appearance. They are strong, have large facial features and a sensual mouth. They can be recognised by their unusual gaze: they seem to be looking at you and at the same time — deep into themselves. They may be somewhat absent-minded, and live in their own world. They are dreamy, romantic, with creative abilities, indecisive, polite, with pleasant manners, somewhat superstitious.

People whose lagna is in Pisces are rich, well educated, independent, sometimes orthodox and fanatical. They may be lazy, inclined to spending, and money comes to them too easily. Their imagination is very rich, they are not content with grey everyday life and seek consolation in philosophy or in intoxicants.

Pisces natives enjoy great success with the opposite sex. They have, as a rule, good marriage partners, however Pisces natives terrorise them with their jealousy and suspiciousness.

People whose lagna is in Pisces love history, and are disposed to charitable and righteous activity. They are exalted souls, capable of giving those around them spiritual inspiration, distracting them from everyday life and showing them another reality, pure and full of beauty and harmony.

  • Mars in the 11th bhava.
  • The lunar nodes without conjunction with other planets in the angular houses or in the trines.
  • An exchange of the rulers of the 8th and 11th houses.
  • The Moon in the 2nd and Mars in the 5th, or the Moon and Mars in conjunction in the 5th house.

  • A conjunction of Saturn and Mars in the 2nd or 11th house.

With Ascendants in dual signs all the kendras are ruled by benefic planets — Jupiter and Mercury. Taking into account the fact that these planets additionally acquire the statuses of Badhakesha and Maraka, they suffer most of all from Kendradhipati-dosha. Jupiter for the Lagna of Virgo and Gemini, and Mercury — for the Ascendant in Pisces and Sagittarius produce the effects of Kendradhipati, Badhaka and Maraka and become extremely dangerous. If they are badly placed, debilitated or deprived of strength (because of combustion, defeat in planetary war or poor Shadbala indices), the consequences can be fatal.

  3. Mars, the Moon, Mercury, Jupiter — any of these planets, being in the 4th bhava, brings the person fame in its own dasha.
  4. Jupiter in the 10th house is a full-fledged Raja-yoga. The participation of the Moon or Mars makes it more effective.
  5. The combination of Saturn in the 12th and Mars in the 11th endows the person with incredible wealth, fame and a good character.
  6. Venus and Mercury acquire the status of functionally unfavourable planets, on account of which it is better for them to be in the 12th house.

  11. The Moon behaves very well in the 4th, 5th, 9th, 10th and 11th houses if it is under the influence of Mars.

Lagna in Pisces. Pisces in Vedic astrology

The symbol of Pisces — two fishes swimming in opposite directions — reflects the contradictory aspirations and ideals of one born with this lagna. This lagna may also serve as an indication of a second marriage, because Mercury, the lord of the 7th House, is a dual planet which has its fall in Pisces. And Pisces itself is a changeable, mobile rashi, yielding to Gemini alone in the degree of duality of its nature. The fact that Mercury also governs their 4th house makes study difficult for Pisces natives (Mercury = intellect), and sometimes creates difficulties in domestic life. Jupiter for them is exalted in the 5th house (counsel), being at the same time the lord of the lagna and, in addition, of the 10th house (public activity), causing many of them to choose teaching or lecturing work as their profession.

Venus is the most unfortunate graha for persons with the ascendant in Pisces, in approximately the same way as Mars is for the lagna in Virgo, since Venus, the enemy of the lord of the lagna — Jupiter, rules both the 3rd and the 8th houses. Moreover Venus is exalted for Pisces natives in the 1st house, which makes its ill will still sharper, especially with regard to marriage, since Venus is the significator of marital relations. However this lagna is in the highest degree good for children, since the lord of the lagna, Jupiter, is exalted in the 5th house, whose lord, the Moon, is a friend of Jupiter. Such a position of Jupiter may foretell fame and success in life for the children of one born with this lagna, and may give their relations with children a special tenderness, filled with exalted feelings.

Since the lord of the lagna, Jupiter, has no enemies, the native of Pisces (a soft, archetypally feminine rashi) defeats their enemies by non-action; but, being soft and yielding by nature, Pisces natives too often allow those around them to abuse their kindness. They are constantly let down by friends, elder brothers or sisters, the associations and societies of which they are members, since Jupiter is weakened by fall in the 11th house. On the other hand, the exaltation of Jupiter in the fifth house (where it manifests itself as the significator of wisdom) makes them wise counsellors, and also gives them a love of poetry (one of the matters of the 5th house), all the more so since their 5th house, Cancer, is ruled by the Moon, the significator of the emotional mind, and consequently of poetry as well. The Sun, the lord of the 6th house, gives birth in them to an inclination to healing and caring for the sick and some special attraction to hospitals, infirmaries and shelters: for Pisces is the 12th house of the natural zodiac, signifying the isolation of a person from society, including behind hospital walls, and besides, Saturn, the significator of the 12th house, which also strives for isolation, owns the 12th house of one whose lagna is Pisces.

RESULTS OF BIRTH IN MINA LAGNA [Pisces]

«Jataka-Bharanam» 13:12. A person whose birth occurred in Mina Lagna is skilful (an expert), abstinent (moderate) in food and sexual desires, rich in gold and jewels, changeable (inconstant), sly (inventive) and does many things.

Commentary: The primary element of the Rashi Mina [the sign Pisces] is Water. It is of dual nature, and is ruled by Guru [Jupiter]. This is the last Rashi of the zodiac. It is connected with Salvation — liberation from the cycle of births and deaths (with Moksha). If in the chart of birth Guru is endowed with strength, then the person will be spiritual, practical, will love philosophy and possess insight (intuition, understanding). They receive financial profit from foreign countries.

Whatever field they may be connected with, their thoughts and ideas turn out to be very important. They are extremely emotional, possess a big heart (generous) and a rich imagination, and they are an idealist. They are full of enthusiasm at the beginning of any work or plan, but towards the end this enthusiasm weakens. A person with this Lagna will be peace-loving, a little idle (lazy), will love juicy fruits and is connected with art. Life in a world of imagination is an important aspect of their personality. Easily carried away by emotions, they will quickly abandon their own thoughts and values. But when their thinking improves, then important changes will begin in their life. They are a spendthrift by nature. For them money does not have great value. In a burst of feeling they can make an enormous renunciation for the sake of the object of their love.

The author of the treatise «Jataka-Parijata» writes of them: A person born in Mina Lagna will not have a great desire for sexual relations with their wife, they treat close people well (help them), they will be bright (energetic), endowed with strength, possessing an abundance of grain, educated and rich.

The author of the book «Man-Sagri» says of a person with Mina Lagna that they will be rich in gold and jewels, will not receive great sexual desire, they have a weak body and they will think for a long time (on some subject).
