Saturn in the third house: one of the favourable places for Saturn. The person becomes very purposeful, confident, courageous, clever, caring, cautious, but at the same time the person is shy, not social, not communicative, not confident in society, he has a fear of the public. They speak and write very slowly and cautiously. Just as slowly they take in information. They have an inclination to engage in their own business. It is difficult for them to work in a collective. The person will pass through any competition and will become the victor. An unfortunate placement for younger brothers and sisters (if there are any). This person may not develop good relations with brothers and sisters. Success comes to them with time, through difficulties. A good placement for marriage, but they have few children. The sutras cited above are clear and entirely logical for the indications of the 3rd house. However it may be added that as an inauspicious planet, Saturn, being in a house of upachaya, will make the owner of the horoscope a bold, courageous and rich person, and will grant a fairly long life. If at the same time Saturn is placed in its own sign or in the sign of exaltation, an inclination towards literary pursuits and success in this field should be expected. People who have Saturn occupying the 3rd house of the horoscope will have abilities for concentration and focus. Our practical experience shows that with Saturn being in the 3rd house the mother of the master of the horoscope will not be able to bear any more children or will have miscarriages.
Other opinions concerning Saturn in the 3rd house:
“Brihat Jataka” — a good intellect and great strength.
“Phaladipika” — the owner of the horoscope will be intelligent, noble, will enjoy the comfort of family life, but will be lazy and unhappy.
“Saravali” — a person who has Saturn placed in the 3rd house will become bold and merciful, inclined towards charity, but dishonest and unfriendly.
“Chamatkar Chintamani” — misfortunes because of brothers, many obstacles in life, great ambitions and good oratorical abilities.

The results of the placement of Saturn (Shani) in the 3rd house
In the case of the placement of Shani in the 3rd Bhava the person will receive fame from the government, will acquire an excellent means of transport, he — is the Pradhan (the head) of his village, exceptionally valiant (energetic), helps and supports many people.
Comments: Shani [Saturn], placed in the 3rd Bhava [house], will of course cause troubles or ill-feeling towards brothers and other relatives. The plans of such a person are often postponed (that is, their execution is often delayed). From his commerce or business he does not receive as much income as he expects.
