Rahu in the 6th house and Ketu in the 12th house: It is considered that malefics bring favourable results in the upachaya houses (the 3rd, 6th, 10th, 11th). Of all these houses Rahu gives very good results when Rahu is in the 3rd, 6th and 11th house. The 6th house shows work and victory over enemies. When the Rahu dasha is running, the person rises to unprecedented heights, defeating all his enemies and ill-wishers. Money flows to them, which they do not even manage to count. In the company of pure spiritual people it is difficult for a person to find “easy money”, since “easy money” comes by dubious paths. Rahu in the 6th house gives easy money and dubious company. Rahu also gives victory over enemies. But in order to defeat enemies, one must first have them and fight with them. Therefore in the period of the Rahu dasha, as a rule, scandals, quarrels, problems with the law or court cases arise for them. For some reason they have to go to court or to the police. Perhaps this is connected with divorce or alimony.
Bill Gates has Rahu in the 6th house. For a long time his company dominated the market of information technology, and his competitors were left far behind. Even the US government filed suit against the monopoly of Microsoft. Bill Gates had to go through several scandalous court cases that were brought against his company. Rahu shows the task in this life. The 6th house shows illnesses. Rahu tries to withstand these illnesses. The world's largest charitable foundation, founded by Bill Gates's family, finances programmes to fight dangerous illnesses in the world and to improve human health. Nevertheless, Rahu here is inclined to give hidden illnesses.
Ketu in the 12th means that in a past life the person was not as passionate, competitive, selfish as he is now. He was simpler, more spiritual, isolated, ignored. In this life Rahu compels him to chase after material success and fame in society. Ketu blocks the indications of the 12th house. The 12th house is losses, isolation, spirituality. Ketu blocks losses, isolation and spirituality. As a result the person receives success and recognition in society and thinks less about the spiritual aspect of life. In one interview a journalist asked Bill Gates about his attitude to religion. He said: ”I have no proof of this (the subject was God). It is not worth allotting so much time to religion. It is not efficient. I can do a lot of things on Sunday mornings.” Answering the same question in another interview he said: ”The scientific approach is close to me, in order to understand how things happen, and why they happen. Rahu in the 6th house: such a position automatically destroys enemies and removes obstacles on the path; it leads to failures and moral dissoluteness if the Ascendant is in Capricorn, but for other Lagna signs it promises victory over enemies and a life in prosperity. The person is inclined towards marital infidelity, and attains success by means of connections with foreigners. Long-lived, but disorders of the nervous system are possible. Rahu in the 6th, Ketu in the 12th house: the karmic task
This placement is considered favourable, since malefic planets give beneficial results in the Upachaya houses (the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th). The placement of Ketu in the 12th is also good, since the Moksha-karaka Ketu corresponds to the indications of the 12th house and of the sign of Pisces. On the other hand, this combination may give great difficulties in life.
Rahu in the 6th house brings to the forefront of life such themes as work, service, health, the struggle with enemies, cleansing practices, diets, the capacity for analysis, discipline, austerity, accidents, illnesses, the struggle with the opposition, court proceedings, power, medicine, healing practices, help to others.
It is obvious that most people would prefer to avoid many of these themes, but people with such a placement have to get used to these things to a considerable degree.
The 6th house is connected with youth (Virgo), and in this sensitive period Rahu gives the person a clear understanding of the goal in life. This contributes to the development in the native from youth of an astonishing discipline and orderliness in life, if the other indications of the chart also confirm this.
On the other hand, if Rahu is afflicted, it may prompt the native to engage thoughtlessly in activity harmful both to himself and to others, which the person will subsequently regret.
This placement of Rahu gives good doctors, healers, and all other professions directly or indirectly connected with medicine. It also draws the native into various dealings with foreigners, which proves very advantageous. This may include such spheres as tourism, import-export, the transportation of goods and so on. This placement of Rahu also makes the person capable of hard labour and endows him with fearlessness.
The presence of Ketu in the 12th house endows the native with all sorts of visions or dreams, in which he receives some psychic experience. This also inclines the native towards spiritual practice, if the other indications confirm this and if Ketu is strong and acts through the higher vibrations. More often such people simply become aware of some divine forces, but interpret this experience in their own way.
This placement of Ketu also usually brings the person some unpleasant experience in the form of imprisonment, isolation, accidents. But this is to the native's benefit, since through this he is freed from bad karma. All forms of isolation may be of benefit to the person, since they help him to realise the talents dormant in him, earned by the experience of past lives. After this Rahu in the 6th prompts the person to work intensively in order to bring all this to life.
The peculiarity of this placement consists in the fact that the native does not manage to avoid enemies, however hard the person tries. Enemies and enviers follow on his heels. One of the karmic tasks is to learn to deal with enemies, and the key to solving this task is the development of the ability to forgive.
It is precisely for this reason that such a placement of the nodes gives so many politicians in our time. They often have to deal with the behind-the-scenes manoeuvres of their opponents. Although in most cases the person manages to overcome his enemies, failures and even death at the hand of an opponent also happen with such a placement of the nodes.
Usually such people possess a strong build, but if the nodes are afflicted by something, this may give some serious illnesses or strange disorders that are difficult to diagnose. If there are other confirming factors, then this placement may lead to sudden death without any particularly obvious illnesses.
Recognition and outward success come to such people, as a rule, after a long struggle. Usually such people are very strongly oriented towards building their career. Natural stubbornness sometimes prompts such people to abuse their strength and power. As a rule, this leads to Ketu in the 12th bringing them collapse.
This placement of the nodes sets the person the task of bringing into balance the excessive practicality of the 6th house, connected with the element of earth, and the emotionality of the element of water in the 12th house. The native needs to beware of excessive rigidity, which proceeds from excessive discipline and a maniacal inclination towards order. They also need to avoid the other extreme: not to squander their life in indulging their emotions, neglecting all discipline.
In the financial sphere the person needs to beware of the extremes of excessive stinginess or of an excessive inclination to spend money uncontrollably. Sometimes the native may become excessively ascetic, and sometimes may turn into an unrestrained spendthrift. One must try with the help of wisdom to find the middle path between these extremes.

A person who has the shadow planets occupying the 6th house will be patient and happy. If Rahu or Ketu are in conjunction with the Moon, sexual relations with women of the royal family, poverty and an inclination towards theft may be expected.
Other opinions concerning Rahu in the 6th house:
“Phaladipika”: Rahu in the 6th house — wealth, mighty enemies, a long life and illnesses of the anus.
“Chamatkar Chintamani”: Rahu in the 6th house — the owner of the horoscope will be courageous, strong, rich and will destroy his enemies.
Note: Bhrigu Muni gives the same characteristics for the placement of Rahu and Ketu in various houses. His opinion is based on the fact that these planets are always in the seventh house from each other and both exert an influence on the house. However the other classical texts, apart from the “Brihat Jataka” and the “Saravali”, which do not describe the results of the placement of the shadow planets in the houses of the horoscope, hold a different opinion.
We should like to add several important remarks concerning the placement of Rahu and Ketu in the houses of the horoscope. Concerning the characteristics of these planets there are three main opinions: 1) they act as the lord of the sign that they occupy, 2) their nature is like that of Mars and Saturn, and also 3) the view of Kalidasa given below. An experienced astrologer intuitively understands what influences the shadow planets conduct when he analyses a horoscope or draws up forecasts.
Relying on the famous classical work of Kalidasa, the “Uttara Kalamrita”, it may be said that, being shadow planets, these planets are not regarded as the lords of any houses or signs. If Rahu and Ketu are in conjunction (in the same sign) with a planet, then they take on its qualities, become conductors of its energy, and in their periods, or bhuktis, act like that planet. When the shadow planets do not enter into a conjunction — they give the results of the planet aspecting them. And only when Rahu and Ketu are neither joined nor aspected by planets do they act as the lord of the sign in which they are placed.
If one of the two nodes and the lord of a triad are placed in conjunction in the 9th or 10th houses or if one of them is in the 9th, and the other in the 10th, a favourable yoga is formed, which will bring prosperity to the owner of the horoscope. If at the same time a malefic planet enters into a conjunction with or aspects one of the shadow planets, then the bhukti [sub-period] of the yoga-karaka will prove unfavourable.
And a last remark. Rahu and Ketu become beneficial when they occupy the positions of a triad or of a kendra from the lagna. The shadow planets also prove beneficial when they are joined with the lords of a house of a triad or of a quadrant. But if at the same time the lord of the 9th house also owns the 8th (in the case of Gemini rising), or the 12th (in the case of Libra rising), and also if the lords of the 9th or 10th houses are joined with the lords of the 8th and 12th houses, the beneficial results of the yoga are lost.

The results of the placement of Rahu in the 6th house
If Rahu has entered the 6th Bhava, then the person will destroy his enemies, will be rich, will receive strength thanks to the company of dirty (sinful) people, but suffers from pain in the back, and his horned cattle will be ill.
Comments: Thanks to the placement of Rahu in the 6th Bhava [house] the person is free from enemies — from those people who are ill-disposed towards him. Rahu in the 6th house often causes misfortune because of the maternal uncle. A great danger of an ulcer in the abdomen arises.
