Jupiter in the 11th house: prosperity, the possession of means of transport, flourishing, power, the favour of the heavens. Adores being in society and among friends, attracts hangers-on for friends. The father lives long. Jupiter in the 11th without any conjunctions and unfavourable aspects grants fortune and the favour of the heavens. With the placement of Jupiter in the 11th house the person's father lives long. Jupiter in the 1st, 9th or 11th house grants prosperity. If Jupiter is in a panaphara (the 2nd, 5th, 8th and 11th houses) — the later period of life is favourable. Jupiter in the 1st, 2nd, 10th or 11th house says that the person will obtain material well-being with the help of elder relatives or by working in a financial institution. “Bhrigu Sutra” 5.50-53

A person who has Jupiter in the 11th house of the horoscope will be learned, rich and will have great financial profits. In his 32nd year of life he will acquire horses (means of transport) and will receive wide fame. When Jupiter is joined with a benefic or a malefic planet, the owner of the horoscope will be very fortunate and will acquire elephants as a means of transport. In the case of a conjunction of Jupiter with the Moon great financial profits should be expected without any particular effort expended.

Comments:

Jupiter will bring enormous good to a person if it is in the 11th house of the horoscope. In sutra 52 it is asserted that in the case of a conjunction with a benefic or a malefic planet, the owner of the horoscope will become prosperous. Bhrigu Muni holds the view that, being the strongest of the benefic planets, Jupiter, being in the 11th house in a conjunction, strengthens the good qualities of the other planets and neutralises the influence of the malefics, since even they give good results in a house of upachaya. Bhrigu Muni writes that the result of these conjunctions will be the acquisition of elephants as means of transport, which in our time should be regarded as the acquisition of prestigious and expensive models of motor cars. This is especially true if Jupiter is joined with Venus — the indicator of means of transport.

Dhana yogas, the yogas of wealth, are formed in the cases of Aquarius rising (Jupiter in Sagittarius in the 11th house as the lord of the 2nd and 11th houses) and of Virgo rising (Jupiter exalted in Cancer as the lord of the 4th and 7th houses). Influencing the 5th from the 11th house, Jupiter brings happiness in children.

“Brihat Jataka” — the owner of the horoscope will be prosperous and fortunate.

“Phaladipika” — wealth, fearlessness, a small number of children, a long life and the possession of means of transport.

“Saravali” — a person who has Jupiter placed in the 11th house of the horoscope will have enormous financial profits, servants and means of transport. He will be noble, but will not receive a high education and will have few children.

“Chamatkar Chintamani” — The owner of the horoscope will have things of gold and silver, will spend money not on objects of luxury, but for the good of others. He will be intelligent and will become a support for his father.

Note: The placement of Jupiter in the 11th house is considered very favourable by all the authorities. The opinion of the “Phaladipika” and the “Saravali” with regard to children is doubtful, since from the 11th house Jupiter will beneficially influence the house of children. But the remark of the “Saravali” about a low education is just and logical, since the 11th house is the eighth to the 4th house, the indicator of academic education, and Jupiter, as the gyana-karaka, the indicator of knowledge, being in the 11th house gives intelligence, intellect, reasonableness and wisdom (the influence on the 5th house), but also obstacles in obtaining an academic education.

The results of the placement of Jupiter (Guru) in the 11th house

If Guru is placed in the 11th Bhava (the Bhava of profit), then he will make the person competent and strong, exceedingly rich, prospering in affairs connected with beautiful clothes, jewels and expensive means of transport, and he will receive the patronage of the king.

Comments: A person in whose birth chart Guru [Jupiter] is placed in the 11th Bhava [house] receives a growth of wealth thanks to royal patronage, the performance of Yajnas (Yagyas), means of transport, lands, teaching and the like. He is very ambitious; and if Guru receives beneficial influences, then the majority of his aspirations will be fulfilled. Therefore he will obtain all kinds of magnificence <luxury> and prosperity. Such a person is exceptionally happy from his wife, son and friends, because they all help him and support him. Four-legged animals, horned cattle (agriculture) and the like also bring him happiness.
