Jupiter in the houses of the horoscope
Jupiter in the 1st house (it acquires directional strength): money, material well-being, good fortune, responsible children, beautiful speech, a proud bearing; acts on a grand scale. The parents live long.
Jupiter in the 2nd house: well-to-do, able to foresee the future, pleasant and truthful speech. Strives for the ideal and attains it. Careful with money, loves sweets. This position in a woman’s horoscope indicates that its owner will die before her husband.
Jupiter in the 3rd house: long-lived, proud of his intellect, has good analytical abilities, is well known. Marana-avastha.
Jupiter in the 4th house: much money, happy and content with life, has a highly moral and religious upbringing. Burdensome family ties. In a woman’s chart it indicates happiness in family life, but the possibility of dying before the spouse.
Jupiter in the 5th house: intellect, developed intuition, worries about children. Becomes involved in ambitious enterprises and takes from life everything he can.
Jupiter in the 6th house: sickliness, an excessively responsible attitude to work, healing abilities, poverty. Victory over opponents.
Jupiter in the 7th house: good health, a worthy partner, prosperity. The person surpasses his father in his qualities.

Jupiter in the 12th house: a good placement of Jupiter for meditations, for acquiring secret sources of income and for accumulating wealth. With age the passions give way to religiousness and to thoughts of spiritual liberation (Moksha). When the transiting Jupiter enters the sign of Cancer, the person may set off on a long journey.

- For people with the Ascendant in Aries, the placement of Jupiter in the 12th house or in its sign of fall will bring good fruits.
- In a woman’s horoscope, Jupiter in the 4th house in its own sign foretells a respectable and happy life.

With Ascendants in the dual signs, all the kendras are ruled by beneficent planets — Jupiter and Mercury. Given that these planets additionally acquire the statuses of Badhakesha and Maraka, they suffer most of all from Kendradhipati dosha. Jupiter for the Lagna of Virgo and Gemini, and Mercury for the Ascendant in Pisces and Sagittarius, produce the effects of Kendradhipati, Badhaka and Maraka and become extremely dangerous. If they are badly placed, debilitated or deprived of strength (through combustion, defeat in planetary war or poor Shadbala figures), the consequences may be fatal.
Jupiter and the other planets
If the Sun is joined with Jupiter [in one house of the horoscope — editor’s note] — the person will be cruel and always doing other people’s work; the Moon with Jupiter makes a person fortunate in the struggle with enemies, the head of a sect or of a family, capricious and wealthy; Mars with Jupiter produces the ruler of a city, or a raja, or a wealthy brahmin; when Mercury is joined with Jupiter, they produce a person who constantly performs on the stage; Jupiter with Venus gives a good education, a wife, wealth and people with many merits. Jupiter with Saturn produces a barber, a potter or a cook… In the same way one should obtain the results of a combination of more than two planets. (Varahamihira — «Brihat Jataka», 14.1-5)
Commentary: The last sentence implies that accumulations of planets should be interpreted by combining the interpretations of the pairs of planets. For example, in interpreting a conjunction of the Sun, Venus and Jupiter one should use the interpretations of the Sun and Venus, of the Sun and Jupiter, and of Venus and Jupiter. Attention should also be paid to the relative strength of each particular planet
Jupiter and the Moon
A 6/8 or 2/12 position forms the ruinous Shakata yoga. To neutralise its effects one should wear an opal.
Jupiter and Venus
Charm and generosity make the person popular. Graceful, elegant, loves comfort and luxury, understands the quality of things, knows how to work with people, energetic, intelligent and results-oriented. Conflicts in amorous affairs.
