Saturn in the 9th house
The results given by Saturn in the ninth house of the horoscope
Saturn in the 9th house: This person has knowledge in the fields of religion, philosophy and law. These people need to strengthen their self-discipline. They enter into disputes with the authorities or with their father, or with their superiors. They may work in the sphere of politics. They receive little help from the father; an interest on their part in programmes directed at increasing public welfare may be expected. They may suffer from stomach illnesses. They believe in fate, are interested in astrology and may live in seclusion. (Tom Hopke)
Saturn in the ninth house does not create serious problems. The person prefers solitude. Such people have strongly conservative philosophical views. They are carried away by the esoteric sciences, yoga, meditation and try in every way to understand the truth. With time a firm view of life is formed in them. They are not ready to follow public opinion and are not ready to obey others. Sometimes they become religious fanatics. The person sets out on pilgrimage to distant countries and is carried away by the history of various cultures and religions. The person may face troubles far from his homeland. This is not a placement for wealth and family happiness. Saturn from the 9th house aspects the houses of elder and younger brothers. Therefore Saturn does not give close relations with them. Here Saturn gives tense relations with the father. The father may have troubles and chronic illnesses. The person is very caring and wants to engage in charity. The 9th house is a ‘Maraka house’ for those born under the lagna of fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius). They need to review their views, so that they do not hinder their own development. Saturn (Shani) in the 9th house
Saturn in the 9th house: the person's father is a rather ordinary personality, the period of Saturn presents a danger for the father. Is interested in science, ascetic habits, unhappy in family life, scandals, troubles during long trips, poor eyesight. (Shri Govind Swarup Agarwal)
“Bhrigu Sutra” 7.41-43
Comments:
The 9th house is the house of fortune, and Saturn symbolises construction and architecture. Therefore Saturn being in the 9th house gives talent and fortune in this kind of art. In ancient times the building of temples, “ghats for ablution and quarters for cows” was considered very prestigious.
Saturn in the 9th house, the house of the father, may create difficulties in relations with him, disagreements and disputes. Saturn indicates the lower strata of society, and the 9th house, the most favourable in the horoscope, speaks of mercy and compassion. Therefore the owner of the horoscope may be sincerely interested in helping the destitute, in creating charitable funds and political programmes directed at increasing the welfare of society and so on. For the rising signs of Taurus and Gemini the 9th house falls in Capricorn and Aquarius respectively. Saturn will be in its own sign as the lord of the 9th house in the 9th, thereby creating a strong raja yoga. For rising Libra Saturn will be a yoga-karaka, a planet of strength, and the lord of the 4th and 5th houses; for rising Capricorn it will be the lord of the lagna and of the 2nd house; and for rising Aquarius Saturn will be exalted in the 9th house as the lord of the lagna. All these placements are very favourable.
Other opinions concerning Saturn in the 9th house:
“Brihat Jataka” — wealth, happiness in children.
“Phaladipika” — the owner of the horoscope will be unfortunate, poor, unhappy, childless, deprived of a father, atheistic and malicious.
“Saravali” — poverty, irreligiousness, childlessness, unhappiness. The owner of the horoscope will become a cause of suffering for those around him.
“Chamatkar Chintamani” — the master of the horoscope will become cruel, but he will have faith in the yoga shastra and will renounce earthly attachments.
Note: With the exception of the “Brihat Jataka”, all the classical texts describe the position of Saturn in the 9th house as unfavourable. In our opinion, the good results of which the “Brihat Jataka” speaks will appear when Saturn is placed in the 9th house as the lord of a favourable house or as a yoga-karaka, which is what is noted in the commentaries to sutras 41-43.

The results of the placement of Saturn (Shani) in the 9th house
If at the time of birth Shani is placed in the 9th Bhava, then the person believes in religion <Dharma>, acts in accordance with his religion, Dharma, his body is crippled (not capable of labour), he is foolish (reckless), but exceedingly handsome.
Comments: The nature of Shani [Saturn] manifests in that the native strictly follows spiritual or religious traditions and possesses an unshakeable faith in the scriptures. Therefore, if Shani is in the 9th Bhava [house], then it will of course strengthen these qualities in the person and direct him in accordance with them. But such a person will be rigid because of an inability to adapt to the practical side of religion, to circumstances, to time and place. Perhaps that is why the author called him foolish. He will have rigid, difficult relationships.
If Saturn is in the 9th house, then the person will have a feeling of pride or haughtiness. Shani in this Bhava causes the loss of the person's fortune. If Shani is debilitated, then the person's wife is ill or sickly, and his death will be caused by some illness of Vata (Wind), by paralysis or by some sudden illness.
