Venus in the fifth house: This is the house of creativity. In many artists, actors and stars of show business Venus can be observed in the 5th house. As a rule, these people have strong 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th houses. Beautiful creative children are born to them, and the parents themselves experience great pleasure from their children. Daughters are born to them more often than sons. The 5th house is the place of amusements, theatres, restaurants, clubs. Venus in the 5th house gives people the desire to visit these places more often and to amuse themselves. They prefer to dine in restaurants rather than at home. This is also the house of love. It is considered that a strong Venus in the 5th house gives successful romantic relationships, when it is not subject to the influence of malefics. Nevertheless, by my observations, a strong Venus can also lead a person to disappointments, since the person expects from his partner the same return as he gives himself. When the person does not receive what he expects, he is disappointed. The influence of malefics on Venus gives scandalous relationships and extramarital affairs. “Bhrigu Sutra” 6.29-33

A person who has Venus occupying the 5th house of the horoscope will be filled with wisdom and will be able to become a minister of the king or a commander of the army. The fortune of seeing his grandmother alive will fall to him, and he will have a young wife and good children. Honour and the respect of the government await the owner of the horoscope, he will become a clever minister. His wife will be happy. If Venus is joined with a malefic planet or is in the sign of an inauspicious planet or in the sign of its debilitation, the master of the horoscope will have a sluggish mind and will experience difficulties with childbearing. When Venus is joined with a benefic planet or is in its own sign or in the sign of exaltation, the owner of the horoscope will become wise, experienced in worldly affairs, will have many children, and also means of transport.

Comments:

People who have Venus in the 5th house of the horoscope are usually charming, artistic, intelligent, religious and romantic. They may have a good education and pedagogical abilities, may make successful capital investments, and are able to give sound and correct advice. Venus, being a benefic planet, gives good children. Having a female nature, it grants more daughters than sons.

The most advantageous for the revealing of the indications of the 5th house are the placements of Venus in Capricorn, Taurus and Gemini with Virgo, Capricorn and Aquarius rising respectively. In the first case Venus will be the mistress of the 9th house, and for rising Capricorn and Aquarius Venus is a yoga-karaka.

The words of Bhrigu Muni about “the fortune of seeing his grandmother alive” should be understood as a prediction of her long life and good health.

Other opinions concerning Venus in the 5th house:

“Brihat Jataka” — prudence.

“Phaladipika” — wealth, great honour, happiness from children.

“Saravali” — the owner of the horoscope will be happy, rich, will love enjoyments, will have good friends and children. He will be able to become a minister or a judge.

“Chamatkar Chintamani” — a person who has Venus occupying the 5th house of the horoscope will not know happiness from his children, will not be bold, but will achieve success in his undertakings thanks to persistent labour. He will be educated, but will not become a poet.

Note: All the authors agree that the placement of Venus in the 5th house is quite favourable. The last remark of the “Chamatkar Chintamani” draws attention by its apparent illogicality: “He will be educated, but will not become a poet”. In antiquity by education was understood a knowledge of Sanskrit and of the Vedas. Sanskrit is the language of the demigods, devanagari, and exposition in it takes place in verse form. The study of the Vedas enlightens a person, and he himself becomes a poet. A vivid and well-known example is Kalidasa, who was not only a celebrated poet, but also a great connoisseur of the Vedas, in particular of the jyotisha shastra. His treatises on astrology astonish not only by their knowledge
of the subject, but also by their beautiful, elevated exposition.

The results of the placement of Venus (Shukra) in the 5th house

In the case where the descendant of Bhrigu (i.e. Shukra) is in the Bhava of progeny (i.e. in the 5th Bhava), then the person is talented in all kinds of poetry, is rewarded with a son, possesses a means of transport and wealth and receives much respect from the king.

Comments: If Shukra, placed in the 5th Bhava [house], gives beneficial influences: the person possesses a very great ability to give advice or to make judgements. He possesses knowledge and skills in questions of politics and of consulting, abilities in study (in obtaining an education). Shukra in this position is very beneficial for happiness from children. The person may possess natural inclinations towards the sciences of incantation and sorcery <and also towards the Mantra Shastra>.  He earns wealth, chiefly, by means of his intellectual activity. His ways of resting or of amusing himself are worthy of imitation.

Some authors of Vedic astrology say that the birth of many daughters is one of the results of the placement of Shukra in the 5th Bhava, but this is not true in all cases. Although Shukra is a female Graha, all the same, being in the 5th Bhava in a male Rashi and in conjunction with a male Graha, it will undoubtedly give sons. According to Maharishi Bhrigu such a native knows how to conduct himself, and his behaviour is always pious (righteous) and correct.

A malefic influence on Shukra will give the person sorrow because of the death of his progeny, he will have a sluggish (foolish) mind, he will amuse himself with low pastimes, will fall into the company of immoral people and he will have no education.
