Saturn in the tenth house raises the person in the professional sphere, but he will not be able to remain at the top for long. He has to come down from the heavens to earth. This happens especially in the dasha (period/sub-period) of Saturn or when transiting Saturn comes into the 10th house. In some cases, at the beginning of the dasha (period) of Saturn, the person earns a large fortune and by the end of the dasha loses it. They try to have power over others and to obtain high posts. Such people develop quarrels, conflicts, troubles in the professional sphere. They have a great passion to serve for the good of society and to show it the right road. In management they are very strict, they have their own rules and want to establish their own dictatorship. They become very well-known public figures, but at the same time society perceives them as not very kind and friendly. However high the person rises, he often has to fall. As a result, the person is directed onto the spiritual path. They do not want to receive advice on how to act correctly in the professional sphere.
They always want to achieve success by their own theories. Sometimes mad, unrealistic ideas appear in them. Not always can a person make brilliant discoveries that can be realised. Such people as Einstein, Fidel Castro, Stalin, Nelson Mandela were lucky. Their Saturn in the 10th house gave them the opportunity to bring their ideas to life. The 10th house is the house of honour and dignity. A malefic Saturn, being in this house, gives great ambitions, persistence and ambitiousness. The methods of action of the owner of the horoscope will be dubious and will often proceed under the motto “the end justifies the means”. Negatively affecting the moral aspect of the 10th house, Saturn, on the whole, shows itself in a favourable way, since the 10th house is a house of upachaya, where malefic planets give good results. The owner of the horoscope will be very capable and will be able to achieve much in his activity (if there are no afflictions such as those described in the sutras), will visit holy places, since pilgrimage is one of the indications of the 10th house. Saturn is a strict teacher — it is not for nothing that it is personified by the impartial and punishing Yamaraja, the god of death, and, being in the 10th house, endowing the personality with great ambitiousness, it gives the temptation to use impious methods of achieving the goal. If the owner of the horoscope does not withstand the “test”, Saturn “punishes” him with ill fame, the destruction of his authority, an undermined reputation and final collapse.
Influencing the 4th and 7th houses, Saturn gives an unfinished education, problems in the family or several marriages. Bhrigu Muni describes that the owner of the horoscope will perform an ablution in the Ganges. The Ganges is a sacred river of India and, according to tradition, an ablution in it burns away negative karma, purifies the person, and in this too the positive aspect of the presence of Saturn in a house of upachaya is expressed.
Being in a kendra from the lagna in its own sign or in the sign of exaltation, Saturn forms a shashi yoga. With Aries and Taurus rising Saturn will be in its own sign as the lord of the 10th and 11th, of the 9th and 10th houses respectively, which will create, besides the shashi yoga, also a powerful raja yoga, the result of which will be wealth, fame and high honours. For rising Capricorn Saturn will be exalted in the 10th house as the lord of the lagna and of the 2nd house, which will cause the same results as with a raja yoga. For the rising sign of Libra Saturn will be a yoga-karaka and the lord of the 4th and 5th houses, and its placement in the 10th house will form a strong dhana yoga. The position of Saturn in the 10th house as the lord of the lagna is favourable for rising Aquarius as well.

“Brihat Jataka” — happiness and might.
“Phaladipika” — the owner of the horoscope will become a king or a minister of the king, will be exceedingly rich, famous, bold and will prosper in agriculture.
“Saravali” — a person who has Saturn occupying the 10th house of the horoscope will be rich, learned, will become a minister or a judge, or the head of a village or a city.
“Chamatkar Chintamani” — at an early age the owner of the horoscope will lose both his parents. He will defeat his enemies, will be poor and will have sinful thoughts.

The results of the placement of Saturn (Shani) in the 10th house
When at the time of birth Shani stands in the 10th Bhava, it will make the person a prime minister or a judge, exceptionally prudent, with courteous manners, the head of a village or an official in a city, exceedingly clever and rich.
Comments: Shani [Saturn], placed in the 10th Bhava [house], will give slow success in the person's activity. Shani in this position will deprive one of happiness from one's father. Such a person will devoutly, heartily and actively perform spiritual or religious celebrations and the like according to all the traditions of his family. In the opinion of Maharishi Parashara, if Shani in this Bhava is in the Rashi of Mina [the sign of Pisces], it will make the person a hermit (one who has renounced the material world). If Saturn in the 10th house is in the Rashi of debilitation or in the Rashi of an enemy, then the person will be cruel, very thrifty and will earn his living by service.
