Anuradha Nakshatra

Date 04 Apr 2023
Anuradha Nakshatra

The 17th nakshatra — Anuradha (Sanskrit: अनुराधा) consists of three stars placed in a row in the constellation Scorpio (3°20′ — 16°40′). The Greek name of this star is Scorpionis.

Anuradha is a «deva», a divine star, soft by nature. Its name is translated as «the star of success», and also as «the star that calls other people  to activity», which indicates the organisational abilities of a person  under the influence of this star. Another translation is «a follower of Radha», which speaks of a person’s spiritual inclinations and his spiritual experience. Radha is the feminine manifestation of God’s energy, encouraging all living beings to serve God.

The presiding deity of the nakshatra is Mitra («friend»), a son of Aditi.

Listen about the nakshatra Anuradha — Ruslan Narushevich >>

Anuradha has the head of a cat. She wears ruby ornaments. From the head to the navel she is black, and from the navel to the toes white as snow. In her two hands are a lotus and a thunderbolt. She rides on a horse. («Chaturvarga-chintamani» by Hemadri)

The symbol of the nakshatra Anuradha is a triumphal gateway decorated with leaves — the same as that of Vishakha. The deity is Mitra, yet another Aditya, responsible for friendship and partnership.

Many characteristics of Anuradha are the same as those of Vishakha, which might be supposed from their common symbol. But Mitra in the role of ruling deity presupposes one important addition: Anuradha, while remaining extremely purposeful, has a distinct penchant for making and maintaining friendly ties. Mitra also brings team and organisational abilities, the ability to create a cohesive team for the joint realisation of what has been conceived, and therefore Anuradha people often stand at the origins of some organisation, manage it or head it.

The lagna or the Moon in this nakshatra often testify to sound bodily and mental health and to the ability to understand the diversity of people and characters. Life presents Anuradha people with a multitude of favourable opportunities; they travel a great deal and often live far from their native places, since Anuradha is rarely content with its place of residence. In most cases they have high demands, luck does not accompany them in games of chance and in speculation, and they love mathematics. The latter may extend from occult numerology to scientific theories of numerical methods and mathematical statistics, depending on the other indications of the horoscope.

Physiology and diseases: The mammary glands, the stomach, the uterus, the intestines.

Professions, people and places of habitation: Gallant and courageous people with captivating speech. Popular leaders who inspire love and devotion. Those who skilfully earn money and who are very attached to their friends. Bribe-giving, nepotism and other kinds of illegal patronage. Joyful celebrations in honour of victories. Travellers and people living in distant lands.

The key concept of the nakshatra Anuradha

Building and renewing relationships that help prosperity, developing mutual support.

Anuradha prompts opposites to communicate: the old with children, the mature with the inexperienced, the successful with the lagging, people of different races, castes and so on. This nakshatra may be regarded as a universal solvent. At the present time Anuradha is one of the nakshatras that have the ability to see the reality behind the false propaganda of the mass media on the social, economic and political levels.

The logical approach of Anuradha’s thinking is the reason why its natives are drawn to the exact sciences, such as mathematics and physics. Their ability to combine logic, intuition and free thinking produces sages in every field of knowledge. Numbers are what Anuradha likes most of all, and therefore many natives are interested in the occult sciences, numerology or statistics. Anuradha always tries to widen the horizons of the subject under study.

Those under the strong influence of Anuradha usually have sturdy, hairy bodies. They have a broad chest and hips, and with age they often acquire a little belly. The expression of their faces is friendly and conveys a sense of well-being, while their eyes and manner of conducting themselves have a touch of mystery. Their behaviour in society fluctuates between passivity and extreme expressiveness. They know how to combine friendliness and indifference. The reasonable actions of Anuradha natives reflect the balanced manifestation of the opposing energies of Mars and Saturn.

Anuradha people often make efforts to calm those around them and love to be intermediaries between people, groups and organisations. They are very interested in everything occult and hidden. They are exceedingly sensitive, although they like to wear a mask of unapproachability.

The ability to maintain outward calm makes good organisers of them. Anuradha people are often the founders and leaders of organisations. Their extraordinary mind is a melting pot of diverse knowledge and experience. Most Anuradha people express their emotions in the worship of God or of Universal energy. At certain periods of life they have to spend a great deal of time alone with themselves.

Curiosity makes Anuradha people travel a great deal, especially to other countries. They adapt to new surroundings quite easily. Living abroad gives them pleasure and brings them benefit.

Sympathy, devotion, love, a sensitive and spiritual nature — these are the key characteristics of this nakshatra.

Anuradha is the nakshatra of friendship, since its ruler is Mitra, and he is the friend of all living beings. Usually Anuradha types not only speak but also do what they speak about.

They have good health, boldness and good organisational abilities. They are industrious and, as a consequence, success in life often accompanies them.

Under negative aspects malice, anger, outbursts of rage and disappointment may manifest.

General characteristics of people born under the influence of Anuradha

Those who are born in Anuradha will have difficult relationships with people born in Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Ashlesha, Ardra and Punarvasu.

Anuradha men

Light-eyed with a hard gaze. A handsome face.

Such men are not frightened by difficult situations, because they always have a plan of how to resolve the matter, although their restless mind on the emotional level is not always satisfied with the solution. They are very industrious and set on moving forward, despite an outward indecisiveness. They are independent, can remember an offence for a long time, and are vindictive. Anuradha men often do not have lasting, solid relationships, but they believe firmly in God. They may be successful in business. They begin to earn rather early, at 17—18, and until the age of 48 they experience various difficulties. After 48 a favourable period of life begins. If the Moon and Mars are in conjunction, they may be doctors or pharmacists.

An Anuradha man rarely receives benefits from brothers and sisters, and has bad relations with the father, sometimes also with the mother. He usually lives far from his place of birth. He constantly looks back on his childhood and tries to arrange his family affairs in such a way that the children live better than he did. He knows how to care for children properly — protectively and with love.

His own family gives satisfaction, and the wife will possess all the qualities needed for a housewife.

There is an inclination towards asthma, tonsillitis and colds. There may be problems with the teeth and the gastrointestinal tract. Anuradha men do not take care of their health, do not know how to treat themselves properly and therefore are often ill.

Anuradha women

Their figure is, as a rule, slender, and their waist is slim. The face may not be attractive, but the gaze is innocent and magnetic.

They are open-hearted, selfless and accommodating, prefer a simple life and do not follow fashion. They can attain a good position in society and in social life. They respect relatives and superiors. They usually have a friendly circle in which they act in the role of leader. They display a talent for music, dance and the fine arts, and can receive an academic education.

They are devoted to their husband and religious. They are ideal mothers. They receive recognition and love from the husband’s relatives.

Irregular and painful periods, headaches, problems with the nose.

The padas (quarters) of the nakshatra Anuradha

The 1st pada of the nakshatra Anuradha (3°20′ — 6°40′ of Scorpio) falls into the navamsha of Leo, ruled by the Sun. This pada places the accent on understanding the inner «I» and applying this knowledge in the outer world, in one’s career. Truthfulness, oratorical abilities, fame. Excessive pride and belligerence should be curbed in order to give a positive outlet to the energy. The Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Ketu are especially strong in this pada.

The 2nd pada of the nakshatra Anuradha (6°40′ — 10°00′ of Scorpio) falls into the navamsha of Virgo, ruled by Mercury. To the fore here come constant learning, discipline, insight, working in a group and organising something. This pada favours the study and disclosure of the mysteries of the Universe. Manifestations of greed and life far from home are possible.

The 3rd pada of the nakshatra Anuradha (10°00 — 13°20′ of Scorpio) falls into the constellation of Libra, ruled by Venus. The native’s interests may fluctuate from art, music and bohemian life to occultism. Planets in this pada have a deeply social nature. Ambition and intelligence.

The 4th pada of the nakshatra Anuradha (13°20′ — 16°40′ of Scorpio) falls into the navamsha of Scorpio, ruled by Mars. For attaining esoteric goals the energy of this pada is more than enough. The only difficulty in this case is directing the energy into a constructive channel in accord with the Universal laws. The influence of planets in this pada endows one with excessive passion and emotionality. An absence of happiness in family life or celibacy is possible. The Sun, Jupiter and Ketu perceive the energy of this pada best of all.

The ruling planet of the nakshatra Anuradha

Connected with Anuradha are Ketu, Saturn and Mars. The main ruling planet of the nakshatra Anuradha is Saturn; its strong influence is felt in the discipline inherent in Anuradha. Saturn endows people under its patronage with the ability to rise above ordinary superficial communication and to solve the riddles of existence, and gives them the ability to understand and then to overcome the limitations of the material world.

Ketu is responsible for Anuradha’s incursions into the sphere of occultism, into hidden reality. Mars gives initiative, impulsiveness and the energy necessary for research.

Conjunctions and mutual aspects of Mars and Saturn, especially when they fall into Saturnian signs or nakshatras, carry energies similar to those possessed by Anuradha.

All planets in this nakshatra may act favourably. The degree of their favourableness depends on the general condition of the horoscope and the level of development of the personality.

The ruler of the dasha is Saturn, followed by the periods of Mercury, Ketu, Venus, the Sun, the Moon, Mars, Rahu and Jupiter.

  • Venus — fame, a high social position;
  • Saturn — stinginess.

Mars in the 1st quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 3°20′ — 6°40′ of Scorpio

The placement of Mars, the Moon and the lagna in this quarter in a woman’s horoscope speaks of ruthlessness, guile and calculation, and in a man’s horoscope — of cruelty, stubbornness and dishonesty.

Mars in the 2nd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 6°40′ — 10°00′ of Scorpio

Ashlesha rising, with the Sun, the Moon and Mars located in this quarter, forms a very unfavourable combination of planets, indicating death at a childhood age.

Mars in the 3rd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 10°00 — 13°20′ of Scorpio

The patronage of rich people, hedonism. If there is an aspect of Jupiter on Mars — the owner of the horoscope will be rich and attractive, and loved by those around him for his excellent qualities of character.

Mercury in the 1st quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 3°20′ — 6°40′ of Scorpio

The owner of the horoscope will be witty and cheerful and will easily overcome all obstacles in life. His light attitude to life will extend to his fortune as well, which relatives may take advantage of and appropriate his property. He will remain poor, and only a favourable dasha (planetary period) will allow him to receive some compensation.

Mercury in the 2nd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 6°40′ — 10°00′ of Scorpio

The owner of the horoscope will have an average income and an even, calm life. However, in relations with the marriage partner he should not express even the slightest superiority, since this may lead to the collapse of the family or to a «family hell». If Mercury in this quarter is conjunct Jupiter — the owner of the horoscope may have no children.

Mercury in the 3rd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 10°00 — 13°20′ of Scorpio

If in a woman’s horoscope the lagna falls in Rohini and Mercury occupies this quarter, her marriage will be solid and, from the outside, very successful. Her husband will be rich and will occupy a high position, but will have problems with sexual potency. The destructive degree for Mercury is 10° of Scorpio. The life span of the owner of a horoscope in which the destructive degrees are involved is greatly shortened if there is no aspect from a strong Moon. During transits of Mercury over its destructive degrees one should also be careful and not undertake any important matters.

Mercury in the 4th quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 13°20′ — 16°40′ of Scorpio

An attractive appearance, a good character, an excellent marriage partner. The owner of the horoscope will become a teacher or the director of an educational institution. However, if Mercury is afflicted by Saturn and Mars, the owner of the horoscope may become the leader of a criminal group.

  • the Moon — birth into a rich family;
  • Mars — boldness and a good education;
  • Venus — nobility, a sense of self-worth;
  • Saturn — wisdom, erudition, learning, an unhappy marriage.

Jupiter in the 1st quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 3°20′ — 6°40′ of Scorpio

An ominous arishtha (an unfavourable combination of planets) is formed when Jupiter, the Sun and the ascendant are located in this quarter, and it brings death at the age of 22.

Jupiter in the 2nd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 6°40′ — 10°00′ of Scorpio

Generosity, wealth, leadership qualities, good sons. A man who has Jupiter placed in this quarter may make an excellent career in the army or the police.

Jupiter in the 3rd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 10°00 — 13°20′ of Scorpio

If Jupiter is aspected by Venus — the owner of the horoscope is very talented in mathematics. The destructive degree for Jupiter is 10° of Scorpio. The life span of the owner of a horoscope in which the destructive degrees are involved is greatly shortened if there is no aspect from a strong Moon. During transits of Jupiter over its destructive degrees one should be careful and not undertake any important matters.

Jupiter in the 4th quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 13°20′ — 16°40′ of Scorpio

Boldness, respectfulness towards elders, but constant material difficulties.

Venus in Anuradha

  • the Sun — the acquisition of houses and land, happiness in marriage;
  • the Moon — eloquence, sexuality. The owner of the horoscope is the favourite of the family;
  • Mars — calmness, softness of character;
  • Jupiter — the possession of real estate and means of transport, happiness in marriage and wonderful children;
  • Saturn — cruelty, dishonesty, involvement in court cases.

Venus in the 1st quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 3°20′ — 6°40′ of Scorpio

Frivolity, sexuality, inconstancy. This position of Venus in a woman’s horoscope speaks of diseases of the urinary tract. The destructive degree for Venus is 6° of Scorpio. The life span of the owner of a horoscope in which the destructive degrees are involved is greatly shortened if there is no aspect from a strong Moon. During transits of Venus over its destructive degrees one should also be careful and not undertake any important matters.

Venus in the 2nd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 6°40′ — 10°00′ of Scorpio

Debts, a constantly straitened material position, involvement in lawsuits. Venereal diseases are possible.

Venus in the 3rd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 10°00 — 13°20′ of Scorpio

An average life span, diseases of the gall bladder or the genital organs.

Venus in the 4th quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 13°20′ — 16°40′ of Scorpio

The owner of the horoscope may choose a profession connected with chemistry.

Saturn in Anuradha

  • the Sun — poverty, hostile relations with one’s father;
  • the Moon — the possibility of attaining a high position in politics or in the industrial sphere;
  • Mars — problems in the professional sphere because of an unreasonable approach to one’s duties;
  • Mercury — wealth, erudition, a good education;
  • Jupiter — the owner of the horoscope will receive all material goods from life.

Saturn in the 1st quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 3°20′ — 6°40′ of Scorpio

An inclination towards risk and illegal activity, immorality. A person who has Saturn located in this quarter may become a criminal.

Saturn in the 2nd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 6°40′ — 10°00′ of Scorpio

Foolishness, quarrelsomeness, involvement in court proceedings because the owner of the horoscope will try to appropriate someone else’s property.

Saturn in the 3rd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 10°00 — 13°20′ of Scorpio

The owner of the horoscope will be secretive and cruel. The most favourable period of his life will come after the age of 52. If Ketu is placed in Mula, the person will receive benefit from the government.

Saturn in the 4th quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 13°20′ — 16°40′ of Scorpio

Some chronic disease is possible, danger from fire or weapons, cruelty. The owner of the horoscope may be involved in a court case. His expenses exceed his income.

Rahu in Anuradha

Rahu in the 1st quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 3°20′ — 6°40′ of Scorpio

The owner of the horoscope will engage in professional activity that will be below the level of his education and upbringing. If the lagna is also placed in this quarter in conjunction with Rahu, the owner of the horoscope will be very weak in health and will face a multitude of family problems.

Rahu in the 2nd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 6°40′ — 10°00′ of Scorpio

This position of Rahu speaks of great selfishness in the owner of the horoscope. If the Moon is placed in conjunction with Rahu in this quarter, the person will be exceedingly rich. When with this combination of planets the lagna is placed in Magha, childlessness is possible.

Rahu in the 3rd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 10°00 — 13°20′ of Scorpio

Happiness in the family, prosperity. Rahu in this quarter, Saturn and Mars in the 4th quarter of Chitra, and the lagna in Hasta form the strongest arishtha, indicating that the owner of the horoscope will live only a year.

Rahu in the 4th quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 13°20′ — 16°40′ of Scorpio

If the ascendant, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn are placed in Purva Ashadha and Rahu is located in the 4th quarter of Anuradha, a child with such a horoscope will live only a few hours.

Ketu in Anuradha

Ketu in the 1st quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 3°20′ — 6°40′ of Scorpio

A person with such a horoscope will become a teacher. He will be religious. If Saturn and Mercury are placed in this quarter in conjunction with Ketu, the owner of the horoscope will be a scientist and will attain great fame and renown, but success will come to him only at the end of his life.

Ketu in the 2nd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 6°40′ — 10°00′ of Scorpio

This is a bad position for Ketu, which will bring a court case over property, as a result of which the owner of the horoscope will suffer very great losses. Besides, his powerful enemies will constantly create problems for him.

Ketu in the 3rd quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 10°00 — 13°20′ of Scorpio

Until the age of 25 the owner of the horoscope will have problems in the professional sphere and will not be able to have any permanent work. But after the age of 30 success will come to him and he will have a well-paid job.

Ketu in the 4th quarter of the nakshatra Anuradha, 13°20′ — 16°40′ of Scorpio

The owner of the horoscope will frequently change his place of residence. Great expenses await him, and he will lose even his inherited fortune in a foreign country.

The symbol of the star Anuradha is the offerings that devotees offer to God. But the main symbol of the nakshatra Anuradha is the lotus, which possesses the ability to bloom amid the difficulties and troubles of this world. An astonishing quality of the lotus is the fact that it grows out of silt and mud, yet is not defiled by that mud. This may be a hint at the qualities possessed by people born under this star.

The very name of the nakshatra, Anu-Radha, means a call to others to worship the feminine energy of the Lord, the energy of Radha. That is, these people are quite spiritual, although this spirituality may be hidden under all manner of masks. These people are very unusual, and often they do not understand themselves, or why they are unhappy. This is because they call no one to follow them, and do not even know where to call them, and do not try to find out — they do not know what the meaning is, what the mission of their life consists in.

The ruling planet of this star is Saturn, which hints at inclinations towards asceticism, and hence at trials on the path of spiritual development, including voluntary trials that a person imposes on himself.

The nakshatra is located entirely in the constellation Scorpio, which is ruled by Mars, and therefore its qualities, such as boldness, valour and an inclination to travel and to move from place to place, are passed on to the possessors of this star as well. That is why these people may live abroad and attain success far from their homeland. Anuradha people possess good health and a great store of vital forces. They are also brilliant organisers, of which I have repeatedly become convinced by the example of the seminars these people organise for us in different cities.

The ruling deity of this nakshatra is Mitra — the god of friendship, partnership and cooperation among people. Mitra, being also one of the manifestations of the incarnation of the Sun, endows people with compassion, devotion and love.

The very main energy of the nakshatra Anuradha is radhana-shakti — the energy of service. No one else can serve the way these people serve. This star creates a balance between respect for other people and respect for oneself. They can serve others without any feeling of humiliation. That is, absolutely sincerely and consciously. On a higher level the deity of this nakshatra is Radha herself, the consort of Lord Krishna, who gives the ability to inspire everyone to serve the Supreme Lord.

Anuradha is divine by its nature and its totem is a female deer. This star helps people to create and maintain friendship and relationships while remaining firm in following their goals and in their inner core. They build relationships without sacrificing their line of life and, naturally, do not interfere in other people’s attainment of their goals.

The main one of the 4 motivations for these people is dharma — correct activity, and therefore fame and recognition are always easily attainable for these people by means of simple friendly interaction with other people.

Since this nakshatra is connected with such harsh planets as Saturn and Mars and with such a sign as Scorpio, the main negative sides of these people are envy and a desire to control others. These people are often dissatisfied with their place of residence and therefore in the course of their life move from one place to another, seeking something better. They may be carried away by occult knowledge, and even abuse it.

Since the Moon in Scorpio is in its fall, these people have an inclination towards melancholy, dissatisfaction, a feeling of loneliness and an inability to rejoice — often this comes from a lack of maternal love in childhood. This spiritual hunger sometimes turns into physical hunger, thereby expressing itself in excessive eating and body mass.

The qualities displayed by people born under this nakshatra are wisdom, truthfulness, kind-heartedness, charisma, industriousness, boldness, the ability to accumulate wealth, the ability to overcome difficult situations, self-possession and purposefulness. Often there are problems in relations with the mother. And therefore it is sometimes easier for such a person to find maternal support in a woman to whom he is not bound by ties of blood.

The spheres in which Anuradha people are successful are business management, organisers, the travel industry, planning conferences and seminars, dentists, plumbers, investigators, criminal defence lawyers, engineers.

Listen about the nakshatra Anuradha — Ruslan Narushevich >>

Mitra (on the left) — the deity of friendship and of the oath, the ruling deity of the nakshatra Anuradha. He is also considered the eye or the rays of the rising Sun. A bas-relief preserved in western Iran from the 4th century AD.

Anuradha (3°20′ to 16°40′ Scorpio)

The nakshatra Anuradha consists of the stars Beta, Delta, and Pi Scorpionis. These three stars are visible in the night sky as they appear in a straight line above the bright red star, Antares. The ruling deity, Mitra, bestows the ability to develop and sustain friendships. Anuradha is a star related to success and can produce fame and recognition, especially through collaboration. This nakshatra uses both intuition and logic to produce a remarkable understanding of numbers. Travel and success in foreign lands are also supported by this star. People born under Anuradha promote cooperation among humanity and are capable of leading and organizing large groups. They must, however, monitor their level of frustration and melancholy. Similar to the lotus flower, Anuradha has the persistence and ability to blossom in the midst of difficulty.

Sacred Energy Vortex: Thirunindriyur Sri Lakshmipureeswarar Temple

The temple associated with the energy of Anuradha star is located near the Thanjavur District of Mayilaadudhurai in Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is known locally as Thirunindriyur. Goddess Lakshmi worshipped the Siva lingam at this sacred vortex. She prayed to Lord Shiva and asked for his blessing to remain in the chest of Sriman Narayana Moorthy, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Due to the devotion of the Goddess, Lord Shiva has the name Sri Lakshmipureeswarar at this shrine.

People born under Anuradha star should visit the shrine for Sri Lakshmipureeswarar at this temple on Anuradha day, a birthday, or a wedding. It is recommended to perform archana with lotus flowers, an abhishekam and anoint Sri Lakshmipureeswara with sandalwood paste and pomegranate seeds. An offering of sweet rice can be given to the poor near the temple. In addition, one can bath in the holy temple pool and perform a Lakshmi Panjami Vrath pooja for five days. This is a powerful remedy for financial difficulties.

People born under other stars may also benefit by worshiping Sri Lakshmipureeswarar at this sacred site. On Anuradha day, Lord Shiva is adorned with colorful garments that are favorable to Goddess Lakshmi. People can offer a ghee lamp with three wicks and walk around the Sri Lakshmipureeswarar shrine. People may also offer gold or silver wedding badge, in accordance with their financial status, or a turmeric covered cord to the poor married woman. As a result, this remedy will release negative financial karma.

Anuradha natives, your incense is made with the herb Bullet Wood as prescribed by the Vedas.

Burning one of these pillars is like performing a mini fire ritual for that particular star formation. For your specific Birthstar, you will be able to connect inwardly to your planet of energetic origin and gain support with the positive aspects that are you.

Burning the other Nakshatra pillars on that specific Nakshatra day will tune you in with the favorable activities with that star’s energy for the day. It is recommended to at least burn your own personal Nakshatra pillar daily to stay connected to your essence. It is advantageous to burn the days Nakshatra pillar as well.
