The yogi planets, or the rulers of the nakshatras in which the point of the yogi is placed

The yogi planets, or the rulers of the nakshatras in which the point of the yogi is placed

The point of the yogi is the longitude formed by adding 93°20′ to the longitude of the Sun or of the Moon. The yogi planet, or yogi, is the lord of the nakshatra in which this point is placed. The duplicate yogi is the ruler of the sign containing the point of the yogi.

All these planets are considered favourable and bring good fruits during their own periods.

The point of the ava-yogi is placed 6 signs and 6°40′ ahead of the point of the yogi. The ava-yogi planet, also simply called the ava-yogi, is the ruler of the nakshatra in which the point of the ava-yogi is placed. This planet is unfavourable for the person and gives bad results in its dasha.

If the yogi planet turns out to be the Sun, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu or Ketu, then the ava-yogi will be, respectively, Saturn, Mercury, Ketu, Mars, the Sun, Jupiter, the Moon, Venus and Rahu.

The yogi planets and the duplicate yogis influence positively those planets that are connected with them by conjunctions and aspects.

The ava-yogi damages those planets that are connected with it by aspects or conjunctions.

The use of the yogi planets in predictions

1. If the degree of the Ascendant falls into the nakshatra of the yogi planet, the person is predisposed to material prosperity from his very birth.

2. The position of the degree of the Lagna in the nakshatra of the ava-yogi does not favour material sufficiency, but on the contrary may drive a person to destitution.

3. The stay of the yogi planet in the Lagna noticeably strengthens material well-being.

4. If the Ascendant is ruled by the ava-yogi, the person will be predisposed to want and poverty, especially when the ava-yogi is strong. When, however, the ava-yogi is deprived of strength or is in a dagdha sign, it becomes kinder.

5. When the ava-yogi is placed on the Ascendant, privations and calamities pursue the person.

6. When the yogi planet rules the Lagna and occupies a good position in the chart, the person easily attains material success.

7. A connection in the form of a conjunction, a mutual aspect or an exchange of nakshatras between the yogi planet and the duplicate yogi is a powerful combination for material prosperity.

8. Any planet in the nakshatra of the yogi planet will work for the good of the person.

9. The aspect or the company of the yogi is always welcome, while contact with the ava-yogi is undesirable for any planet.

10. The periods of the lunar nodes that are joined to the yogi planet or are placed in the nakshatra of the yogi will be very productive.

11. The placement of the ava-yogi in a favourable house or in the nakshatra of a friendly planet promises nothing good.

12. The ava-yogi in a bad house (the 3rd, 6th, 8th or 12th), in the nakshatra of the ruler of a trika house or in the nakshatra of a hostile planet becomes far more friendly. A combust ava-yogi also gives good results.

13. When the ava-yogi is in charge of a dagdha sign, or is placed in a dagdha sign, or occupies the nakshatra of the ruler of a dagdha sign, its manifestations change radically for the better.

14. A conjunction of the ava-yogi with the yogi or the duplicate yogi, or a stay in their nakshatras, turns the ava-yogi into a benefic planet of a sort.

15. The yogi planet brings good fruits under any conditions; its connection with the ava-yogi, however, or its being in a nakshatra ruled by the ava-yogi, diminishes the beneficent potential of the yogi.

16. A planet in the nakshatra of the yogi planet acquires positive qualities, whereas placement in the nakshatra of the ava-yogi spoils the character of the planet.
