How a planet is affected by its position in the houses and by the aspects of other planets

Placement in the houses and aspects

— The aspect of a benefic planet on a planet or a house improves their qualities, while the aspect of a malefic one worsens them.

— A house occupied or aspected by its own lord (the degree of auspiciousness is of no importance) is strengthened and brings generous fruits.

— The aspect of a malefic planet on a house where another malefic planet is placed spoils the already afflicted significations of the house still further.

— If a house with a malefic receives a benefic aspect (or the other way round), the consequences will be mixed: the malice of the malefic will subside, but the kindness of the benefic will diminish as well.

— Malefics work well in the 3rd, 7th and 11th houses, and especially well if they rule them at the same time.

— A planet feels good if it is placed in a trikona, an angular house, the 11th bhava, in its own sign, in exaltation or in a friendly sign. In other placements it is not so comfortable. A planet in the 2nd house remains neutral.
