Veshi Yoga

Date 24 Dec 2022

Veshi yoga arises when any planet apart from the Moon occupies the second house from the Sun.

One born with this yoga is truthful, lazy, kind-hearted, inclined to virtue, with squinting eyes; he is tall and has a harmonious outlook, possesses a good memory and moderate wealth.

When favourable planets make up this yoga, the native will be eloquent and wealthy and will destroy his opponents.

When malefic planets make up this yoga, the native will be needy and connected with evil people.

This yoga is the equivalent of Sunapha yoga among the Chandra yogas. Depending on the number of planets forming this yoga, thirty-one varieties of it are possible, just as in the case of Sunapha yoga. As with the Chandra yogas, Rahu and Ketu are not considered active components of the Ravi yogas.

The results of Veshi yoga vary according to the planet that forms it.
- Mars. Heroism in battle, a charioteer, renowned.
- Mercury. Able to speak sweetly, stately, capable of fooling others.
- Jupiter. Of an even character, truthful, wise, undaunted in battle.
- Venus. Widely known, deserving of respect, possessing many virtues, courageous.
- Saturn. Absorbed in business, disposed to deceive others for his own enrichment, treating his forebears with malice.

The results of Veshi yoga, like those of the other two solar yogas, must be worked out carefully. The results depend on the strength and nature of the planets that make up the yoga, on which houses these planets rule, on which houses they are placed in, and on the influence of other planets upon them.

The Sun is the planet of strength and energy. It is characterised by predominance, dignity and the management of resources. Planets in the second house from the Sun help it to carry out its functions. In other words, the Sun draws out the qualities of the planets from which it is placed in the twelfth house.

Chart VIII-1 shows two beneficent planets, Jupiter and Venus, placed in the second house from the Sun. The person born with this chart is a medical doctor holding a high administrative position. From the Sun, the Jupiter-Venus conjunction is a combination of the ruler of the lagna with the ruler of the eleventh house in the second house, indicating financial stability.

It should be noted that the Gaja-Kesari yoga involves the ruler of the second house and the ruler of the tenth house, occupying respectively the fourth house and the lagna; the Gaja-Kesari yoga shows standing in society and financial position.

On the other hand, the Moon does not support the formation of a Kemadruma yoga. Although the Moon cancels the Kemadruma yoga, the placement of a lonely Moon in the fourth house deprives the person of a certain domestic comfort. She was away from her husband for a long time.

Chart VIII-2 belongs to Acharya Rajneesh, a famous and well-known teacher of modern times, an advocate of his own unique, though questionable, method of «Sadhana», or spiritual striving.

A powerful Veshi yoga, with four planets excluding the Moon in the second house from the Sun, is formed in the eighth house from the lagna. Acharya Rajneesh was, thanks to Mars, a strong defender of his spiritual practice. Anyone who spoke with him was shaken by the sheer force of his arguments, thanks to Mercury, which did not always coincide with generally accepted norms. He was respected among his numerous followers, thanks to Venus. He accumulated an enormous fortune from the donations of his numerous followers, thanks to Saturn, many of whom were wealthy foreigners. In his unusual strivings he in fact criticised all the renowned teachers descending from Krishna. The accumulation of a large number of planets in the eighth house from the lagna made him follow a path of disagreement with generally accepted norms. Jupiter in the eighth house from the Moon forms a Shakata yoga, which usually indicates suffering and poverty. The native is subjected to struggle, and also to the instability of his fortune. However, the Moon and Jupiter take part in an exchange of houses, and Jupiter, exalted in the third house, removes many of the bad consequences of the Shakata yoga.
