Dhana Yoga

Dhana means wealth. Dhana yogas are combinations that give a person great wealth. The basic rule: the lords of the 5th and 9th houses and the planets that join them are able to give money. They give their results in their own dashas. The 11th house is also important for material profit, and it must be strong. The 2nd house is important too. If the Moon, Mercury, Jupiter or Venus is exalted in the 2nd house, this makes the person born very wealthy.

In addition to these general principles, Parashara listed particular combinations for the various lagnas. In all these combinations the strength of the planets involved determines the magnitude of the results that manifest.

(1) For the lagna Aries: If the Sun is in the 5th house and Saturn, the Moon and Jupiter are in the 11th house, one becomes very wealthy. If Mars occupies a joined lagna or is aspected by Mercury, Venus and Saturn, then too one becomes very wealthy.

(2) For the lagna Taurus: If Mercury is in the 5th house and the Moon, Mars and Jupiter are in the 11th house, the person becomes very wealthy. If Venus occupies the lagna and is joined with or aspected by Mercury and Saturn, then too the person becomes very wealthy.

(3) For the lagna Gemini: If Venus is in the 5th house and Mars is in the 11th house, one becomes very wealthy. If Mercury occupies the lagna and is joined with or aspected by Jupiter and Saturn, then too the person becomes very wealthy.

(4) For the lagna Cancer: If Mars is in the 5th house and Venus is in the 11th house, the person becomes very wealthy. If the Moon occupies the lagna and is joined with or aspected by Mercury and Jupiter, then too the person becomes very wealthy.

(5) For the lagna Leo: If Jupiter is in the 5th house and Mercury is in the 11th house, the person becomes very wealthy. If the Sun occupies the lagna and is joined with or aspected by Mars and Jupiter, then the person becomes very wealthy.

(6) For the lagna Virgo: If Saturn is in the 5th house and the Sun and the Moon are in the 11th house, the person becomes very wealthy. If Mercury occupies the lagna and is joined with or aspected by Jupiter and Saturn, then too the person becomes very wealthy.

(7) For the lagna Libra: If Saturn is in the 5th house and the Sun and the Moon are in the 11th house, the person becomes very wealthy. If Venus occupies the lagna and is joined with or aspected by Mercury and Saturn, then too the person becomes very wealthy.

(8) For the lagna Scorpio: If Jupiter is in the 5th house and Mercury is in the 11th house, the person becomes very wealthy. If Mars occupies the lagna and is joined with or aspected by Mercury, Venus and Saturn, then too the person becomes very wealthy.

(9) For the lagna Sagittarius: If Mars is in the 5th house and Venus is in the 11th house, the person becomes very wealthy. If Jupiter occupies the lagna and is joined with or aspected by Mars and Mercury, then the person becomes very wealthy.

(10) For the lagna Capricorn: If Venus is in the 5th house and Mars is in the 11th house, the person becomes very wealthy. If Saturn occupies the lagna and is joined with or aspected by Mars and Jupiter, then too the person becomes very wealthy.

(11) For the lagna Aquarius: If Mercury is in the 5th house and the Moon, Mars and Jupiter are in the 11th house, the person becomes very wealthy. If Saturn occupies the lagna and is joined with or aspected by Mars and Jupiter, then too the person becomes very wealthy.

(12) For the lagna Pisces: If the Moon is in the 5th house or in the 11th house, one becomes very wealthy. If Jupiter occupies the lagna and is joined with or aspected by Mars and Mercury, then too the person becomes very wealthy.

The principle of Yuti (conjunction)

It is generally accepted that the Yuti (conjunction) of the lords of the 9th and the 10th in kendras or konas gives a Raja Yoga, which may mean good work or a good profession. Yet we very often come across people with an ordinary career, although their charts contain such combinations. In contrast to this, there are people of great influence although their charts contain no such combinations. To explain this paradox, astrologers are obliged to define the houses differently and to use houses that give an explanation of such situations.

In the rashi chart, when two planets are together in one nakshatra and also in one navamsha, such a conjunction has the potential to manifest its results in full measure. Even if they are in different navamshas but in one nakshatra, the Yuti is considered good and effective. On the other hand, if they are in one sign but in different nakshatras, they are far from one another and no Yuti takes place.

To understand what a Yuti is, a deep vision is required. For example, Mercury in the nakshatra Punarvasu in Gemini and Jupiter in the nakshatra Ashlesha in Cancer: they are neither in one nakshatra nor in one sign. But their connection is so strong because of the exchange of nakshatras that they are almost in Yuti. Further, if Mercury is in the 4th quarter of the nakshatra Punarvasu, which falls in the sign of Cancer, then, since Jupiter is in Ashlesha in the same sign, it is wrong to consider that they are not in conjunction. On the contrary, they are in conjunction because of the exchange of nakshatras.

Rahu and Ketu fully represent the rulers of the signs in which they are placed. Other planets do this too, but not to the same degree as Rahu and Ketu. If Rahu or Ketu is in Aries or Scorpio, they represent Mars, the ruler of Aries and Scorpio, and both houses connected with these signs. If Rahu or Ketu is in Aries while Jupiter, for example, is in Scorpio, then Rahu/Ketu are able to represent Jupiter as well. However, if Rahu/Ketu and Jupiter are together in one sign, then Rahu/Ketu will not be able to work for Jupiter unless they are in the same nakshatra. The Yuti of Rahu and Jupiter (Guru) in a sign is considered a Guru-Chandala Yoga. This yoga manifests only if both planets are in one nakshatra. Or even if they are not in one nakshatra, if Rahu is in the nakshatra of Jupiter and Jupiter in the nakshatra of Rahu, this yoga manifests. If Rahu and Jupiter exchange nakshatras, the yoga works at full strength.
