The ruler of the 7th house in the 5th house

The ruler of the 7th house in the 5th house

Such a position endows the person with nobility and firm principles. It is always pleasant to be in his company. He does not lack money. However this is not the best combination for marriage and marital happiness. Family life will be overshadowed by delays and disappointments; the relationship will seldom be a joy. Nor will it be without problems with children: the loss of a child or an absence of happiness from children is possible. Practice shows that a mutual exchange between the 5th and 7th houses often gives no marriage at all. The person has money and honour, is content with life and is always in high spirits, he is surrounded by very worthy people, and only marital happiness he does not have. If the lord of the 7th house is seriously afflicted, the spouse may have children by other men. In the case where Mercury is also involved in the affliction of the 5th house, the children may be illegitimate. In fact, Mercury is the illegitimate son of the Moon. Mixed influences on the ruler of the 7th house lead to the birth of daughters.

Let us turn to chart 1-4.

This horoscope belongs to a woman whose name is known even abroad. Very beautiful and educated (she studied in London), she is connected with industry and is among the wealthiest people of India. In her chart the sign of Pisces rises. The lord of the 7th house, Mercury, is in the 5th house together with the ruler of the 6th, the Sun. We have already said that the position of the lord of the 7th house in the 5th house has bad consequences for marriage and children. This woman married at 21 a young man from a very wealthy family, but their marriage cannot be called happy. She has no children, which in fact creates an emptiness in her life.

If the rulers of the 5th and 7th houses exchange signs or stand together in the 5th house, then matters of matrimony and children will be very painful for the person. A parting because of disagreements, an accident with the children, the death of the children or their complete absence is possible. If there are strong benefic influences on the 5th house, the person may have one or two daughters. A connection of the lord of the 7th house in the 5th with Rahu, Saturn or the Sun (conjunction or aspect) threatens divorce, since these planets possess separative properties. The situation will become still more serious if the ruler of the 7th falls into the 6th, 8th or 12th houses of the Navamsha. The placement of the owner of the 5th house in the 6th from the Lagna of the Navamsha speaks of poor health of the children; possibly they will often have to be placed in hospital. If the condition of the lords of the 7th and 5th houses is extremely severe, and the 5th house itself and Jupiter, the karaka of offspring, are very afflicted, the children may be killed. In the case where the owner of the 5th house stands in the 12th house of the Navamsha, the children may suffer from enemies, robbers or kidnappers, and fall into the hands of bandits. If there are combinations of poverty in the chart, the children may be forced to beg for alms. In any event, conclusions should be drawn after a prudent assessment of all the factors.

If the person has children of both sexes, then their bad behaviour and poor attitude will cause him no little suffering.

Let us turn to chart 1-5.

The chart belongs to a close relative of ours. She married at 16 and bore ten children in the marriage. The placement of Mars, the ruler of the 7th house, in the 5th house gave her an early but unhappy marriage with a man 10 years older than her. He had already been married before, but his first wife had died.

For 24 years in the marriage the woman was not allowed to visit her parents. Her married life was burdensome, for which the placement of the lord of the 7th house in the 5th is to blame. Saturn, the ruler of the 5th house, is exalted in the Lagna. Vargottama Mars in the 5th house is free of bad conjunctions and aspects. Thanks to these factors the woman bore seven sons and three girls. The first children died in infancy. Her sons achieved nothing special and long remained unsettled in life. In 1969, on the 22nd of October, her husband passed away, after which she led a wretched existence. The children tormented the unhappy woman so much that her heart could not bear it, and on 19.08.1986 she died of a heart attack. To the end of her life she had to support many of her children materially, although in essence it should be the other way round. One of the daughters married on 24.11.1968, but for seven years did not live with her husband.

As we see, the placement of the lord of the 5th house in the 7th gave an early but difficult marriage and suffering because of the children.

(Mridula and T. Prakash Trivedi)

The lord of the 7th in the 5th house. A beautiful, wealthy or devoted spouse. Help from the spouse’s family, reasonableness, happiness from children, a successful partnership in business, happy love affairs, good marital karma thanks to the efforts of the previous life. (James Braha)

Possibly they will be fortunate enough to have a good wife, or a good husband. Abilities in the field of entertainment; the possibility of bringing many children into the world; they have a high financial status. (Tom Hopke)

The lord of the 7th house in the 5th house: a marriage for love, a carefree disposition, noble deeds, decency, prosperity; the children are attached to the partner. (Shri Govind Swarup Agarwal)

  • One of the best placements. The lord of a kendra in a trikona (one of the variants of Raja yoga) — this is a blessing from the past life; it gives great morality in marriage. A marriage for love. It gives a wise, spiritual, handsome, wealthy and faithful husband.
  • The spouse’s family will help.
  • An intellectual partner.
  • Happiness from children.
  • Since the 5th house is responsible for purva punya (the credit of good karma from the past life), the person receives all this deservedly, for his pious behaviour in the past.
  • A good placement for the spiritual life. It is often found in the families of religious and spiritual preachers.
  • Some teachers consider that this is not entirely good for marriage.

Rami Bleckt, “How to Become a Seer”, p. 157

The ruler of the 7th in the 5th house: a favourable placement, especially if the ruler is strong. This marriage may be considered one for love. And this is good, because unlike the ruler of the 7th in the 2nd, where the financial side of the matter is important, here there is happiness and feeling. Therefore even if the money runs out, we will still not part, because we have something greater.

Also, sometimes this placement speaks of a shotgun marriage, since the 5th house of the horoscope is connected with childbearing. And if the ruler of the 7th house has a weak position by sign and bad aspects, then such a situation is often played out. It may also speak of the fact that “I need a partner and a relationship in order to have a child.”

If the ruler of the 7th house in the 5th is strong, then:

  • The spouse will be pious.
  • Children will be born immediately after the wedding, and the spouse’s earning opportunities will increase.

If the ruler of the 7th house in the 5th is weakened:

  • Problems with conception may arise.
  • Or else the attitude of the spouse towards the native will change. The partner may begin to be jealous, or not to give attention to the family, or to feel that no attention is given to him.
  • The person’s reputation may be unstable.
  • Problems may arise from the spouse’s friends.
