The lord of the 2nd house in the 12th house of the horoscope

“Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra” (chapter 26): “If the ruler of the 2nd bhava occupies the 12th bhava, then this combination makes the native enterprising and adventurous, deprived of wealth, dependent on others (interested in the wealth of others) and deprives him of happiness from his eldest son (his eldest child does not make him happy).”

Comments: The 12th bhava is the bhava of expenditures. Therefore the placement of the lord of wealth (the ruler of the 2nd bhava) in the bhava of expenditures (in the 12th bhava) forces the native to squander his wealth. It is also the bhava of the foreign, of foreign lands. Such a person may also earn money in a foreign country.

The placement of the ruler of the 2nd in the 12th house may give the following tendencies:

• solitude and spiritual bliss are the greatest values for the person;
• the favourite places are secluded places far from home (pilgrimages);
• a source of income abroad or in connection with abroad;
• the 12th house is the 11th from the 2nd = profit from staying abroad and from everything connected with it, from everything connected with spirituality

Poverty, a lack of control over spending, large debts, speech defects, complications with the right eye, timidity, a limited imagination, foul language, an inclination towards lying, an unhappy family life, poor nourishment, earnings by means of undesirable or illegal methods are possible. They may spend money on religious or charitable causes. They are brave and courageous, but presumptuous; they suffer from the losses of members of their family. They are not experienced in handling money, but obtain a good post in service. (Tom Hopke)

Government service, the obtaining of benefit by dishonest means (including bribes); the presence of self-respect, but an absence of money. If two or more favourable planets are joined with the lord of the 2nd, fabulous wealth awaits the person, and income from religious activity.
