Orson Welles
A director, actor and radio broadcaster whose radio War of the Worlds in 1938 threw part of its audience into panic, and whose Citizen Kane two years later changed the language of film — depth of field, cutting, the composition of sound. The rest of his life was spent fighting studios for the right to finish his pictures.
