Margaret Thatcher
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990, the first woman in the office and the longest-serving premier of the twentieth century. A grocer's daughter from Grantham and an Oxford-trained chemist, she privatised the state industries, outlasted the year-long miners' strike and won the Falklands War of 1982; the name Iron Lady was first given her by the Soviet army paper Krasnaya Zvezda. She died in London on 8 April 2013.
Born in Grantham, Lincolnshire, on 13 October 1925 at 9:00 Greenwich Mean Time: summer time had ended that year on 4 October. The hour was given by her private office and no document records it, so the chart is only as sound as that word.
