Brihat Jataka, Sanskrit edition

The Sanskrit text of the Brihat Jataka in Devanagari, without translation or commentary.

We keep it for one reason: the translations disagree. Where Vijnanananda and Subrahmanya Sastri differ, only the original settles it — and it settles it not by continuous reading but by checking a single verse.

There is no machine recognition here and there will not be. Devanagari ligatures and verse layout are recognised with errors that are worse than having no text at all: in numerals and technical terms an error is indistinguishable from a reading. These pages are read by eye.
