The lord of the 2nd house in the 3rd house of the horoscope
“Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra” (chapter 26): “If the ruler of the 2nd bhava is placed in the 3rd bhava, then the native will be a person of courage and boldness, will be wise, virtuous, voluptuous and miserly. The native will obtain these results when the ruler of the 2nd bhava is connected with a benefic graha; if it is connected with a malefic one, then the native will be an unbeliever, one who does not follow the teaching, a heretic”
Comments: If the ruler of the 2nd bhava [house] is together with a malefic graha [planet] in the 3rd bhava, and if the ruler of the 2nd bhava is itself a malefic graha, then the native has no fear of God at all, because malefic grahas placed in the 3rd bhava will aspect the 9th bhava — the house of spirituality, religion and faith. A malefic graha relies more on its own courage than on fate (Dharma). Since the native is a person of boldness, he does not accumulate money, but rather invests it in trade for expansion and development. A native with the Mesha [Aries] Lagna often becomes a trader selling everything, because in the 3rd bhava is the rashi Mithuna [the sign Gemini], which symbolises variety and multiplicity.

The placement of the ruler of the 2nd in the 3rd house may give the following tendencies:
- wealth thanks to one’s own efforts and will power;
- support from brothers and sisters, friends, neighbours;
- the opportunity to “sell” one’s hobby, work with the hands;
- earnings by means of work with the hands (sport, music, sewing, writing, sculpture and so on);
- the influence of brothers and sisters (especially younger ones) on the formation of the world-view and values;

The receipt of wealth is possible thanks to the help of brothers and sisters, earnings by means of the arts of music, dance or drama. Efforts are directed towards the attainment of wealth. (James Braha)
This person is brave and intelligent, but is inclined towards atheism or else towards debauchery. Musical abilities may manifest; the veneration of lesser gods for material ends. (Tom Hopke)
The lord of the 2nd house in the 3rd house: courageous, manly, intelligent, kind-hearted, somewhat miserly, sensual, nurses a passion for luxury, earns by medicine, and also by music, dramaturgy and other kinds of art. Profitable trips, income from brothers, neighbours and travel, the smile of fortune after the wedding, the family’s assistance in money matters. In the presence of malefic influences the person will hold unconventional views and will spend money on art or on brothers. (Shri G.S. Agarwal)
