Gandharva Yoga

If the ruler of the 10th house is in the kama-trikona (the 3rd, 7th and 11th houses), and the ruler of the Lagna and Jupiter are joined. The Sun must be exalted and strong, and the Moon must occupy the 9th house. If these conditions are met in the natal chart, Gandharva yoga arises.

The person will attain outstanding results in art. He will be strong and fond of pleasures. Always beautifully and tastefully dressed, he will be very well known and will live to the age of 68.

Commentary: It is not without reason that this yoga is called Gandharva yoga. The Gandharvas are a particular kind of demigod, a description of whom you may meet in the Mahabharata, the Srimad Bhagavatam and the Ramayana. They are singers and musicians. They sing their songs for the delight of the demigods. The ancient Indian theory of music is called precisely the Gandharva Veda, taking its origin from these living beings. Accordingly, the bearers of this yoga will be versed in various kinds of art (singing, playing musical instruments, drawing, dancing).

For the yoga to be formed the following conditions must be met:

1. The ruler of the 10th house must be in the houses of Kama (the 3rd, 7th and 10th houses from the Lagna). The ruler of the 10th house shows what activity we carry out in this life. And when the ruler of the 10th house falls into the kama-trikona, a person engages in activity for his own pleasure or for the pleasure of other people. Kama, translated from Sanskrit, means enjoyment.
2. The ruler of the Lagna must be joined with Jupiter and well placed by sign and house.
3. The Sun must be in exaltation and strong by its placement in a house.
4. The Moon must be in the 9th house

When all these 4 conditions are met, the person will achieve great results in art. If only 2 of the 4 points are fulfilled, then the person may not have great knowledge, but an interest in art will be manifested all the same.
